Plateau Lodge is fully owned and operated by Ruapehu locals. We believe National Park Village is the best place to visit while escaping from your own home or country. We are all about supporting the community and we are involved in Business networks, Schooling committees, Nature programmes and all round Charity's that's needs to help. We are striving towards the challenge of being sustainable and working through to a Zero Carbons status. How exciting!

We are a family business and have been here since the start of time. Plateau Lodge was started back in 1993 with a backpacker wing over the years we have move the business into a modern age and now proudly have 24 rooms ranging from Modern Two Bedroom Apartments fully self contained to newly pointed King Studio Pods. The main Lodge is still here but are now private lodge rooms which are connected to an open lounge/kitchen.

I would like to introduce us and let you know our story: Our names are Andrea & Zeus Messenger and our children are Abby & Cody. Our children are the third generation to soak up this wonderful back yard. We are experts on what to do and how to do it no matter if you have small children or teen-ages. There is something to do that will suit you adventure taste buds.

We at Plateau Lodge strive to make a difference towards the environment and of course protecting Mother Earth. Green lodging is about savings — materials, waste, electricity, and ultimately reducing greenhouse gases. So far, there are over 800 different green certifications offered around the world. The New Zealand Tourism Sustainability Commitment aims to see every New Zealand tourism business committed to sustainability by 2025.

Plateau Lodge is playing a key part to be committed to be sustainable. We only offer the following services with certified & accredited manufactures: We deal with manufactures who certify their products are sustainable manufactured.
