★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I spent a night at Bushlands with my 8 year old son. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Highlights included cooking pizza in the outdoor woodfired oven, exploring the old rail line and bridge. But the biggest surprise was the massive natural amphitheatre, a 15 minute cycle around the valley - unmissable. Thanks to the Bushlands team for a warm welcom.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wow, what am amazing experience it was to camp out here. Our first camp experience as a family of 5 (with one toddler) and we felt so relaxed and accommodated. With no internet or phone coverage meant we could unwind from the usual hustle and bustles of everyday life and make memories to last a lifetime. Hosts were fantastic, very laid back and friendly. Facilities whilst basic had absolutely everything that we needed. Wish we could have stayed longer, so no sooner had we departed that we began to plan our next trip back :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We spent New Years Eve here with our family and camped in a tent. We enjoyed the country hospitality with a pot luck dinner, bonfire and live music for their annual event.
Such a great place for families to stay with a neat little river to swim in, bush walks and wild horses. A shame we didn't have the time to explore more, there is so much more to do there and in surrounding areas so we suggest to book at least 2 nights. We will be back again soon for a longer visit and make the most of the serene area. This is Real New Zealand!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you're off the beaten track on the Forgotten World Highway, get off the beaten track a little more. 6km down a gravel road there is a little oasis in the Tangarakau Gorge. Owners are exceptionally friendly and hospitable. The campsite is large and flat with choices of being in the open or under the shade of trees. There are a few power sites and some cabins for those who want a bit more luxury. Kitchens & toilets are spotlessly clean. Take the time to walk or cycle up the side of the river to the amphitheatre, a spectacular natural bowl and enormous rockface with wild horses, goats and pigs milling around.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great place to relax for a few nights.
Fairly basic but has water, power, kitchen, toilets and showers.
Didn’t get in for a swim or go for the walk but will next time we are back.
Lots of room and the hosts are great.
Will def come back again one day soon.
