★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Camp is Abit of a trek from the river so if you have alot of stuff to carry then it could be a challenge. Access was also restricted due to a major washout a couple of weeks before. Having a cafe right next door is very convenient.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Warning: This is NOT currently placed in the right place on the map - the campsite is at the end of Oio road on the Whanganui river approx 25km to the west of the current marker THIS appears to have subsequently moved to what appears to be roughly the correct place. I believe the campsite is slightly further down oio road to the right just before the Bridge.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Clean and nice DOC hut/ campsite. Water comes from rainwatertanks outside. The hut has electricity and a heater but no cooking facilities inside. You need your own gas cooker and go outside with the campers.
Concerning the other comment: the marker here is at the perfectly right place. It is about 500 meters down to get to the boat landing (paddeling Whanganui Journey).

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The take out is quite dangerous as it has clearly been washed out and the only thing that remains is a very narrow path that has been carved into the hillside. As others mention, it is quite a trek from the river so be sure to only bring what you need to camp. Nice facilities, though there is very little shade and can be quite hot.
