Ecoscapes - Ecoscapes 876 Kinloch Road

This was one of the most interesting places I stayed in while visiting new Zealand. The room itself was really gorgeous, and the view was to die for. My reason for giving 4 stars is that it is really remote, and it is about 20 minutes down a gravel road. If this is your thing, you'll love this place, but I found it a little remote and you end up not having a lot of options or food or other activities. It is a gorgeous place, with lovely staff, and if you dont mind the drive, you will love it.

We stayed on a crisp winters day, the views of Lake Wakatipu were just exquisite, world class! The friendly team, wholesome service and locally sourced food (picked from the garden minutes before plating) just made our stay extra special. Toni and her team just go all out to make you feel at home, a bug thumbs up!

The view as you walk into the Cabin is just to die for. Everything was spick and span, all shower needs are there, luxurious bed and a spa pool 10 steps away, the breakfast is included in the price and you can eat in your own bedroom. My fiance and I were taken away to a beautiful, quiet place as we steped into our Kea Cabin, our minds were at peace. Both Host are very welcome people and will tend to all your needs, again that you for the wonderful 2 nights.

My wife and I had a wonderful weekend away in one of the Econscapes. Watching Netflix from your bed while sipping Pinot...and in the middle of the wildeness.....Truly Fabulous. Food was great and the hosts, as ever, were friendly, attentive and super welcoming. The friendly hosting dogs were a joy! Very highly recommended....as an escape...oh! and walking in the native forest was invigorating. Will definately be back!

Heads up for a long review because I absolutely loved my stay and I’m going to rave about it. I was at the Mohua cabin, in front with an unobstructed view of the lake and mountains. If the sun wasn’t out I would’ve spent hours just sitting on the bed admiring the view ! Also keep in mind there’s a 8.5km long gravel road after you make a turn towards Kinloch, it honestly wasn’t too bad (the website says 20km of gravel road so this was shorter than I expected), took me 20min or so with an average speed of 30km/h in a car (not 4WD) but you might be faster. The spa pool was right next to the cabin. All guests at Ecoscapes will be sharing the use , but I was lucky that no one else was around when I stayed here so I had it to myself. One of their dogs - a Goldie - came to say hi when I was in the pool ❤️ Tea and coffee with your choice of milk is provided in the room and a fridge, with bathrobes and towels and extra pillows. There are reading lights by the bed, and a projector for you to enjoy movie nights with the screen down. They have a Netflix account for you to use, or you can cast shows from your own phone. All the blinds open and close by remote. The cabin is built to have a consistent inner temperature of 18-20deg but they also have an air conditioner/heater if you need that. Rain shower and conventional shower head were provided too. Very luxurious and comfortable stay! I had the red lentil and garden veg chilli bowl for dinner which was divine. Just a note that the sandflies are unrelenting. Even with insect repellent on most of my exposed skin sandflies will be hovering and landing on me during dinner and I also got bitten which made it hard to sit and eat in peace (which is the only reason I’m giving 4 stars, this is not the fault of the place though). They do provide a bottle of repellent in your room and at the restaurant so you don’t need to worry. Best to just cover yourself up before going for meals at the restaurant! You can also have breakfast in bed complimentary with your stay. Have it delivered to your room. I ate while enjoying the view without sandflies ? This is so perfect if you wanted a quick getaway, I highly recommend the experience. Thank you Portia for your hospitality and easy conversation ☺️

What a fabulous getaway. The Ecoscape Cabins are an experience themselves, so peaceful and you can just really relax in the incredible environment. Food was beautiful and well portioned, and service so personal and seamless. Thank you so much, we will be back again!
