★ ★ ★ ★ ★ From start to finish I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Lisa who greeted me was really friendly. Lynda was my VIP Backstage "tour guide". A delightful lady with a wealth of knowledge about both the Kiwi and Tuatara. Although all the eggs had hatched there were two wee Kiwi in the enclosure to watch...sooo cute. Also got to go into the Tuatara room with an up close look at the big male. A great place to visit for kids of all ages.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 11/10 the fact you get to be so close to the kiwi and actually see them! (Unlike a zoo environment) brought me to tears. Wonderful experience !! Will definitely be back for a guided tour!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you want to see Kiwi (not through a window) this is the place to do it. You could have (not that you would have) been able to reach out and touch one. There were 2 x 3 month old Kiwi for us to see and we were lucky enough to catch them chasing each other for a few minutes, around in circles, doing little grunts! It was an experience. The rest of the centre provides plenty of detail about the glacier and the wild west coast. Cafe and shop also inside. Recommend a visit!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very cool that you get to see the rarest species of kiwi! The two chicks that had recently gotten big enough to be brought up to the observation area were very cute, active, & easy to watch. I’m so glad this important work is being done to breed these endangered birds and reintroduce them to the wild. There’s a really good chance to see tuatara as well here. Worth the price for sure.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fancy seeing the kiwi with your bare eye? I would recommend visiting this lovely place. You can also buy coffee, food, and a souvenir before or after your visit. It broke my heart to see your business and others struggling in the area. I hope everything will get better for the beautiful people in the Franz Josep. Cheers,

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a great time at the west coast wildlife center. We saw kiwi and tuatara.
Plus the cafe is great, ice-cream,coffee,cabinet food and more.
There was toys for a baby to play with and fresh scones with jam and cream. Yum yum. We will go again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The team here are very friendly. The entire informative tour is not very long, it's just right yet very insightful. We learnt a great deal about Kiwi. until then we were ignorant that kiwis are endangered and their numbers are dwindling down drastically.
When we stepped out, the lady asked us if my daughter saw the Kiwis, but because it's dark in there, we had not seen the birds. The lady was very kind and she let us in again and helped us see the two kiwi birds. We are so grateful for her assistance.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Best coffee in Franz Josef!!!!!!!
Awesome staff, great food and a lovely morning spent amongst the Kiwi and Tuatara.
We were lucky as kids got to go free with every paying adult due to school holidays.
Money well spent.
