★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I saw Hoon Hay Thai advertised on Instagram and thought we would try as we have not been able to find a good Thai in our local area ! So glad to have found this place !!! The food was beautifully presented , fresh , clean and absolutely delicious! Think this is our new local go to !!!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Hoon Hay thai is delicious and they do tofu options for most things which is amazing!!! Great tasting meals with lots of vegetables, fresh and made pretty quick!! I definitely recommend!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Four of us ordered four different dishes for takeaway. All dishes were very good: Larb Gai, Crispy duck (delicious!!), green curry, and even the Pad Thai was good which I've found hard to find anywhere in NZ. Service was friendly and the food took 20 mins (as promised). Highly recommended. Thanks HH Thai ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Definitely Thai shefs. Menu is OK for wide range of diets - from vegan to vegetarian to carnivorous. Reasonable prices. Top of the dinner plate was a sizzling plate of chef special crispy duck and tamarind sauce. Vegan drunken noodles were also very nice and choi choe (spelt it wrong, of course) lightly battered fish was also quite good. Fly circling the table was annoying though. Hint to the owners - do wash off washing liquid from the glasses - water in Christchurch is too good and this detergent taste becomes immediately apparent.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Disgusting service. We waited an hour to be served when the restaurant had only two other diners (had to ask to be served after sitting patiently for an hour). Waited another hour to have our meals delivered which came out wrong. When I told the waitress the meal was wrong she had a go at me. No drinks were offered at any time - had to ask for water. Meals were average at best when they finally arrived. Without a doubt the worst dining experience I’ve had. Will NOT be returning.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wow, just had a delicious meal from here. We did have extra meat but it was worth it. We had red curry duck and red curry crispy pork. Both come with rice and we had ordered fried combination rice which was so tasty. It was not hot just perfect.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bought a chicken dish which cost around 20$. I dnt remember the exact price. It was worth renaming that a vegetable dish instead. Was full of cheap vegetables but hardly chicken. Cheap vegetables in the sense, carrots, broccoli ? etc. Had a hard time in finding the chicken shaves. It was the 1st time visiting them and would be the last. They are busy usually. I dnt know was it an issue with the dish I bought. But seriously it was not worth calling a chicken dish though.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Me and partner went over for dinner and ordered Chicken Red Curry which was very tasty, although we enjoyed the dish there could have been more vege varieties.
Would certainly be back to try other dishes!
