Everyone I called on their many MANY departments were friendly and had chipper attitudes, and that's about the only positive thing I have to say about IAG. Noone seemed to be able to help me and wanted to bounce me around different departments, constantly transferring my calls. It took two months to figure out why I was paying the "estimated repair costs" of a vehiche I had hit when it was written off and paid for by the other party's insurance, and then a further month to get my money back, including being ghosted for a week by one gentleman as he'd gone on holiday. Absolutely never insuring with State/IAG again, including any of their many subsidiaries.

One star Was involved in an accident caused by poor workmanship by a roading crew. Also have independant witness and police report to back up the claim. State decided to keep my excess as it was too hard for them to pursue costs from transit or their contractors. Current and future policy holders beware of this poor and lazy practice. Very disappointing.

It’s never a fun experience when you urgently need your insurance provider and you’re left waiting for 30 minutes on a call. I understand phone lines are busy but in todays she it’s not a reasonable wait time

I would rate this ZERO stars if it let me click the post button. Terrible company. Australian I believe. Very bad customer Service. I was laughed at on the phone during a serious conversation about a horrific crash I was involved in, The 'investigator' Oli his name was , he was extremely unprofessional misconstruing words making me feel extremely uncomfortable while undergoing PTSD from explaining the incident. I had my Mazda 3 2015 insured for 16k and was uo to date with Payments and also gave them sufficient evidence of crash photos and even bank statements which i found ridiculous!! DO NOT GO WITH IAG YOU WILL NOT GET YOUR INSURANCE PAYOUT!!!!!! They are very sneaky and not very pleasant to deal with :(

I bought a travel insurance policy with AMI 20 days before traveling to the US. Unfortunately, the day before departure I was found positive with Covid and I had to cancel my travels. I opened a claim with AMI but they refuse to compensate me because the Covid benefit only start 21 days after the policy date of purchase. This means that for ONE day they refused to pay! It is my fault that I haven't read the fine print properly (lesson learned) but what is the point of getting travel insurance under the current circumstances when Covid is rampant and set a freezing period of 21 days? Absolute scammers, I'll never deal with AMI again.

Extremely bad insurance company if your with these guys you're at a loss here I'd consider changing as soon as possible to trademe insurance! IAG are horrible to deal with they don't even keep you informed of updated. They contact you last minute. Not helpful at all. Completely unethical! Horrible nasty staff aswel!

If I could rate it 0 stars I would. The worst experience I’ve ever had with insurance. Car was written off in the bad floods, I was informed on the day by IAG that the car was a write off… after 4 missed settlement quotes, 4 different case managers handling my case WHO obviously did not know what they were doing, 2 months of paying for a vehicle I no longer had because IAG were taking their sweet time with this claim for god knows what reason when they were given everything that was required-whenever we got one step closer to them just releasing the insurance payout we’d end up back at square one again, where a new case manager would take over and I’d have to start all over. Such appalling service, no one was willing to hear my frustration of having to still work full time but having no vehicle because I wasn’t willing to fork out more money paying for a Rental they offered. Not one case manager/representative reached out to me to give me updates on my claim, I had to call every week/fortnight to give them time which I felt I was generous enough doing. Another person who’s car got written off at the same place where mine did got their insurance payout within 48hours so what’s your excuse IAG? Not good enough. - IAG Lumley Insurance

Currently in the process of a car claim, it's been 2 weeks and my claim is still hanging up in the air, I understand it's been through the holiday periods and all, but they lack compassion and ethics. Out of touch with their customers needs, especially when those customers actually need their help to get back on their feet. They just had to request an NZTA report when they knew it could take a month to get it during the holidays (every week I call, same answer, "maybe next week"), why they don't do these checks when you sign up or at every renewal period is beyond me. All they're worried about is money, when you actually need them they try every avenue not to pay out. Even if this claim does get approved this would be the worst claims process I have ever been through, meanwhile they still expect me to pay the premium when I don't even have a car to get to work.
