Couldn't use communal facilities any more. Got all this information after we booked and paid for.
Wouldn't have stayed there.
Otherwise it was ok.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Clean rooms, Nice & friendly host. The kitchen serves coffee, tea & hot chocolate in addition to all the basic amenities for cooking. You get 300 mbs of internet when you check in but its painstakingly slow. The location is about 10-15 mins walk from the main street which is fine during summers. Otherwise the overall experience was pleasant.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice backpackers. Good sized rooms and bathrooms were across the hall. Large well kept kitchen with indoor and outdoor dining. Great to have a washing machine and tumble dryer at hand. You can hire Mountain bikes there. Walking distance from the hot pools and restaurants.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pleasantly surprised by this place. The accommodation is warm and clean, the showers are gas continuous hot water and clean. The staff are friendly and helpful and it has an old fender acoustic guitar you can use. It's very family friendly, don't hesitate to go there with children if the rooms are available.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I stayed here with a friend of mine back at the end of January, and I am quite impressed with this place! It is super cute, and the location is great! Less than a 10 minute walk to the hot springs and into town, and it is off the main street so it is nice and quiet! Will definitely stay here again next time I visit Hanmer Springs :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Awesome host/manager. Super clean, friendly, and helpful for anything you need to know. Comfortable beds with tons of windows and light. Quaint little fireplace and lounge area with good size kitchen. Small enough hostel that it really doesn't feel like a hostel, but more of an Air B&B vibe, which was a treat. Backyard has a hammock and BBQ area and lush greenery (tip: go outside at night, the stars there aren't light polluted and stunning from the backyard. Would recommend to anyone.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were disappointed to see how backwards this place has gone since staying here 18 months earlier. There was a bottle of ‘lube’ left under the bed, the room was heavily scented with air freshener, wifi was weak & patchy, there was minimal bathroom linen provided, the liquid soap was watered down to the point of not being soap anymore, the communal kitchen facilities were no longer available and the bed was uncomfortable. We were happy to leave first thing in the morning & felt that we paid too much for what we got, especially compared to our experience there last time. We would not recommend this place as an accommodation. We appreciate that times are tough for the hospitality industry right now, we feel that Jack in the Green has made too many cuts and has shifted from being a lovely place to stay to being down right distasteful.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Nice walking distance into the town, very quiet area. Clean rooms and bathrooms. Cosy lounge area to chill, and a couple of outdoor garden spaces. Didn't use the laundry, but they did have a big drying line (useful for your towel after the spa visit!). They also rent out big towels. Was pretty quiet during my mid Oct visit. Owner was really friendly. No bunk beds! Not the securest feeling hostel, but out of the way enough that I wasn't too worried.
