★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely secluded campground, well worth the extra effort to find! The owners are very friendly and the inquisitive but well-behaved animals make for a unique experience and nice atmosphere. The facilities are clean and well-maintained and the whole place has a charming rustic yet tasteful character. Really glad we found this place! Note that Maps doesn't seem to know the small dirt road to campground so if you follow the directions it will probably lead you into the thermal power plant. Look for the signs for Wairakei Thermal Valley.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Love this place. Not everything works all the time, but it is always quickly fixed and with good humour. Friendly, quirky and full of friendly quirky beasties to match. Love the walk too - well worth a trip after you arrive or before you go on your way. Dog friendly too. Hurrah.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great spot to stop with the dogs. Really welcoming people and there's a cafe/restaurant and bar even. Loads of room when we were there. Not Buckingham Palace but all was clean and tidy and the owners take great care in making everything sound. Really cool to have the large variety of animals cruising round. Will be back next time we're passing without a doubt.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A little rustic but well looked after. Plenty of animals walking around. Quite and peaceful at night. A good cafe with delicious devonshire teas. Pleasent surroundings. Host is friendly and obliging.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great for kids/families, lots of animals to see and interact with. Good facilities and nice owner. Quite expensive. Also the signage to get there isn't the best, so take care with Gmaps.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A little slice of heaven!!! The owners John and Cathy are super friendly, there's a tea house/cafe, lots of happy and friendly animals and a walk that'swell worth it. The amenities well-kept and clean, and the whole place has so much character. It's a relatively small and intimate campground, so it's quiet and a great place for families and well-behaved pets. Not far from the Huka falls and only a 12 min drive from Taupo but tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. The entrace is down a dirt road- from Taupo you pass the BP petrol station, go over the steam pipes on highway 1, and take the left which turns into a gravel road. I reccommend highly!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Lovely owners. We didn't have the money to stay the night, but they were very kind to direct us to a local freedom camping ground. We'll definitely come back in the future when we have some funds and free time to enjoy the grounds n animals :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I really loved the place, and I plan to go back to camp there, it feels very peaceful and seeing all the animals is wonderful...
The only thing that left me dismayed was the price for a single night with my small tent. they charged me $ 65 and beyond that the man had told me that for the walk he would charge me $ 6 and in the morning when we went for a walk he charged me $ 10 dollars for the walk. Anyway we loved that place and the man was very kind. ❤
