A hell of a trek up and probably not a great idea in an Automatic car that isn't 4WD but we'll worth it for the view!!

Great view from up here. You can see a long way across both sides of the country.

Wharite Peak is an incredible landmark. The highest accessible point on the Ruahine ranges it overlooks the Manawatu River, Woodville, Ashhurst and Palmerston North. On a really clear day you can see all the mountains to the north and Kaiti Island jto the south. The access road to the summit is gravel and while it can be accessed by family car a 4 wheel drive would be more advisable. If you enjoy tramping there are walks from the top to Copper mine creek. Pack your camera as the views are incredible.

Awesome views. Try to pick a clear day, and you can see the sea on the west coast, and through to Dannevirke and Pahiatua on the other side of the ranges

Good views but the gravel road up is quite narrow and steep in places. You also have to pick your day to go up there as if it's windy on the flats you can hardly stand up at the Tower due to wind.

Drive up was good, gravel road with a few steep inclines so some gravel experience required. The view is magnificent on a clear blue sky day but if it has been cold/snowing be careful for icicles off the transmitter tower.

25 minute drive from woodville turnoff. Gravel roads but easily climbed. The top has picnic table, information on trails, but downside no toilet! Make sure u go as Mrs an hour return trip. Massive views, safe enough for kids to walk around. Feels like about 3 times higher than the windmills height!
