Very lovely place, great beach, put can be very busy and crowded. Has long drops and water for boiling.

One of the most beautiful campsites I have ever been. Clean toilets too and perfectly maintained. The views are just magnificent and we had a beautiful sunset that day. You can do a short walk on the beach and rocks when it is low tide. There are wild see lions on the beach too. They will just mind their own business if you let them sleep. So please don’t come to close. If you come from Catlins lake on to the Purakanui falls road, the first part is sealed and the last 15 minutes is gravel but do able with a camper van. We only passed one car and it easily fitted.

Epic! Incredible views and colors of sunset and sunrise, I stayed a wee bit up the hill if you follow the road into the site and loved the place! It was pretty busy being Easter weekend, but there weren't too many people where I was and everyone was respectful, most people were surfing till 7 which was awesome to watch, one thing is for sure I'm getting a better tent next time though as it was pretty windy up there ??

Turn off SH1 at Balcutha. Drive south past Owaka until Ratanui turnoff. Follow Purakaunui Falls Rd to Long Point Rd, then follow Purakaunui Bay Rd to end. Narrow and gravel road. Great place for camping. we stayed here for a night. We saw many people going out for surfing. we also saw sea lions. Toilet facilities were clean. Booking for tenting and camping needs to be booked prior to camping. You need to book ahead. Campsite Pass bookings must be completed before occupying a site. If you do not pre-book, campground staff (if present) may be able to make the booking for you if space is available. There is a $10 charge for this service. To avoid any disappointment book well in advance. We enjoyed the sun set. Oh before I forget .. it was really windy that day but we pitched our tent behind the shrubs and parked our car in such a way that it acted like a wind barrier for us.
