★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My favourite falls to visit are the Purakanui Falls. This heavily visited attraction is a must-see for those sightseeing in the area. There is plenty of parking in the large and spacious carpark that sits adjacent to the entrance of the walking track. Toilets are available alongside the carpark.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We went in Summer during a low rainfall period so the falls were not as majestic as I am sure they would be full of water. Get your timings right and the view will be incredible.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Purakaunui Falls is one of the more popular spots on the Catlins tourist trail. Just 20 minutes walk but shorter if you have long legs like mine. Well maintained tracks. We found there was lot of space for our car parking. Crossed the road and the track was there. we went on a day when there was lot of water and less people so we had some great shots of the water fall. This waterfall is so awesome. Every waterfalls we have seen if so unique and so is Purakanui.
