★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely one of the most amazing viewpoints in the area that is a “must do” when you are in the Mount Maunganui or Papamoa area!
The panoramic views from the top of the ocean, the beaches, and the surrounding area are simply stunning.
It’s a little bit of an uphill hike to get to the top, but the trails are well developed with stairs in many places, and it only takes about 30 minutes or less to hike to the top from the base trail.
There are several access points to the overlook trails from Maunganui Beach or from the base trail.
Take the time to walk completely around the base of Mount Maunganui, also. The base trail is fairly flat and easy to hike, and you will see see some amazing scenery as you stroll around.
There is plenty of free parking near the beach, and lots of restaurants and shopping in the beach area, too.
