★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Qalways a.pleasure. Never walked around the whole base track before. Will definitely be doing it again. About 3/4 of the way around is the most beautiful beach. Obviously only 1/4 of the way from the hot pools side.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Probably the 5th time I've been up. Usually I would go up and straight back down however we did a little bit of exploring and it was an awesome idea.
A lot to love about the view. Shows how epic Tauranga is. It's a super easy walk just take it easy and everyone at every fitness level can get summit no issues.
Again a few instagrammers posing which is interesting...

If you missed a chance to go to the shire in Matamata, this is the next best thing. A walk here, at some points, were like straight out of the Lord of the Rings!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of our favorite hiking places in the area that we have done many times to enjoy the beautiful scenery and the nice trails.
You can hike around the base, which is fairly flat, to enjoy the scenery and take it easy, it take the trail to the overlook at the top for some absolutely stunning and amazing panoramic views of the area with its beaches and ocean views.
Definitely a hike that you must check off of your list when you are in the Mount Maunganui or Papamoa area!
There is plenty of free parking at the beach area, and lots of stores and restaurants, also.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a great time visiting Mount Maunganui and doing the trek today. I'm very grateful for the well cared for trails and access for everyone to enjoy.
Our two year old daughter loved playing at the base of the track among the shells and rocks and we were surprised to see a seal sleeping high up on a rock.
I highly recommend the spending time here and doing the walks up and around the mount.
