Mount Ocean Sports Club was officially opened on 13th March 1993 by 3 founding clubs
- Mount Maunganui Sports Fishing Club
- Mount Maunganui Yacht Club
- Mount Maunganui Underwater Club
The club was originally created for the members of 3 listed clubs above as somewhere to hold their meetings/events and to have a place to call home.
Since we opened, the club has gone from strength to strength. With a few rocky waters on the way of course. Due to the support of the three clubs and the perseverance of a collective of individuals who volunteer their time our club is now a great community venue where people can dine on great food, find a great selection of fairly priced beverages, host events and enjoy some of the best views in the bay. Oh and we almost forgot get the freshest take away fish and chips in town from our Dairy.
Situated on Pilot bay shores we offer some of the best views in town with views over the water and of the great Mount Maunganui.

Been going here for 3 yrs, not a member so was always happy to pay the 'non-member' price as we liked the setting, the food etc.
All of a sudden we were told we are not allowed to buy any drinks as a non-member and following that our experience was fairly hostile. We felt unwelcome and almost like they had done us a favor to allow us to step foot into the building.
The food on this occasion was below average, burgers were burnt, tasted like nothing and were horribly dry.
On top of all of that, we were welcomed to the venue with one staff member smoking at the entrance way, inviting my children to taste 2nd hand smoke where we couldn't avoid it.
Would not recommend anymore as this left a very sour taste in my mouth when I left.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Booked with group of 10 for 1230pm. Covid check in. Orders taken on time and all meals served not much later. We sat with a full view of the Mount and Pilot Bay. Lots of people using the wharf for recreation. Thoroughly enjoyable. Great cooking by the way and the beer was cold........will be back....

The Te Kouma Bay oyters are a delicious discovery salty and sweet they give Bluffies a serious run for their money especially at $3 each !
Well priced and tasty.
Check out the game fishing club records on the wall and tropy cabinet some good records held by the club.
