★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Our stay at the National Park Alpine Lodge has been absolutely incredible! Keith and Joy have created a comfortable, cosy and warm environment that will make you feel right at home. The hostel has excellent free wi fi, a fully equipped kitchen, laundry facilities, a sunny courtyard and a beautiful living room complete with a roaring fireplace and views of Mt Ruapehu! The hostel is conveniently located in the centre of National Park and within 15 mins drive of Tongariro’s best walking tracks. We could not have asked for a better place to spend our time in National Park. Thanks Keith and Joy!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ To Peter Pan and Hauke Frerichs.(Temmo Harken, you didn't even stay here so how can you comment?) The owners asked you to leave because you were not paying your rent, you both of you are extremely lazy and have no manners, you sit and watch a woman make a fire while the two of you lie on the sofa, does your Mother still do everything for you? I guess you both need to grow up. The owner certainly does not make money off charging you $15 a night and $10 a night respectively which includes hot showers, use of the kitchen, free wifi, free coffee & tea, free use of the laundry and dryer, free parking, free Netflix etc. You said you couldn't pay your rent yet you had money for alcohol and you were busy buying crypto currencies. There is no mold in the rooms as all the rooms have been freshly painted. You are both big fat liars!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A renovated old building with brand new owners. Very friendly staff that is helpful. They do have a small shop that covers the basics. You can nearly shop on call for extended hours. Facilities is clean and neat. It looks like the new owners is trying to improve and upgrade the facilities

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ What a lovely place. We've spent the last three months here and it was a pleasure. The owners make you feeling like home and you sometimes totally forget that you are far far away from home.
Since they bought the lodge, they've changed a lot and Keith, the owner, is working every day to make the best place where we've been in New Zealand, even better!
Some negative reviews before we can't understand. E.g. There is a oven in the common room with free wood and fire lighters. If you are feeling cold you can light a fire, even now in the summer season. And in the winter season Joy, the owners wife, is lighting a fire every afternoon when the people come back from work or their day trips.
So it's absolutely not colder than outside....
All in all - the alpine lodge was the best lodge where we've been in new zealand. And that is quite a time already.
We'll definitely come back and totally recommend the Alpine Lodge.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very good value stay. Maybe even too good value. We chose to sleep in our car and got access to the kitchen, entertainment room, fire place, wifi, showers. Joyce the owner is a beautiful soul, it's just such a shame people like to take advantage and try to exploit.
Would highly recommend this stay and for the price that is currently being asked would encourage others to check this place out for themselves.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Friendly staff, nice comfy bed in a cozy room, clean bathrooms and good showers, spacious and very well-equipped kitchen. There's a small shop for essentials. I did a stop-over for 2 days while traveling with the Northern Explorer in December. I loved hiking to the nearby Tupapakurua falls.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We came here after doing the Tongariro Crossing and fortunately there were 3 parking lots available for our group. There's a small shop in front where you can buy food, drinks and even some hiking gear. It's amazing what you get for 18$! The toilets and showers are very private ones. The kitchen is super well equipped with so much stuff and the cooking is very fast. You can relax and eat in the cozy dining room. There's very good free wifi and lots of plugs in the house. I paid 15$ for a DOC camping ground with just a toilet the day before (!), so after a long hike this place was absolutely luxury! :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great friendly owners. Cozy beds. We stayed in a family room with 3 people and we were not bumping into each other like in some other places. Nice kitchen facilities as well and the best is the prices, very reasonable. They also have bays for camper vans to park in where the drivers can also use the facilities for a nominal rate as well.
