★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Have found the valley by coincidence and was quite amazed in the end. Wonderful, easy, picturesque, and not too long trail, for everyone. Peaceful, relaxing extra stop to be put in daily schedule.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We really enjoyed our walk through the Otira Valley. This walk is unlike the other short walks in Arthur's Pass so makes for some different surroundings. We walked it on a fine winter's day. The track started out dry and then moved to wet and icy and then when we reached the footbridge there was snow everywhere. The sign says 30min to the footbridge, but in winter it's more like 40 - 45min.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the coolest alpine valley walks you can do in NZ, or anywhere with an alpine environment really.
I walked it during winter rain and it was really an experience. You need full waterproof boots and be prepared to jump across a dozen streams.
I would love to go back another time when it's not raining and walk further up the valley.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dont believe the 30 minute walk sign to the foot bridge. Its longer and not an easy walk for the casual walker. Sturdy footwear required but well worth the effort.
