Lots of seals at this viewpoint. Some were even seated on the road basking in all their glory. Don't get too close or they might give you a chase. Make sure you go during the first half of the day to see the most number of seals. Also, there are a few dead ones around which don't make for a pleasant sight

Lovely drive down to the sea lions. On the way a nice lunch stop where you can buy a lot of different fish. Further down the view is getting better and better. Lot's of sealions to see at different stops. Good footwear is recommended because there are a lot of rocks. It's really nice to spend an hour or two if you have the time.

Always a good time here. Free, good views, usually good parking, and hours of entertainment along an amazing walk. Lots of photography opportunities, a very unique place. Just respect the wildlife, and give them space especially as it is nesting season for the gulls.

Such a fabulous spot to catch fur seals! It was our first seal sighting in New Zealand and it did not disappoint! Great to go during sunset and catch the dipping sun set everything glowing! It wasn’t crowded at all when we were there. Walk carefully across the rocks as you get closer to the waters edge to catch the seals basking on the rocks. IMPORTANT: Do not disturb the seals...this is their habitat, not ours. Also, remember that they’re wild animals (and can bite), so treat them as such and with respect.

Toilets at the entrance. Take binoculars with you. The lookout is great when you go at the right season to see seals and dolphins. We have spent almost two hours with our binoculars to spot them

Nice walk along the coastline and on the cliffs with wonderful views of native birds and seals. On November 13, 2016, a powerful earthquake jolted the northeastern coast of New Zealand's South Island. The 7.8 magnitude quake lifted the seabed by 0.5 to 2 meters (2 to 7 feet) along a 20-kilometer stretch of the Kaikoura coast. In one area, the uplift was a remarkable 5.5 meters (18 feet). Pictures reflect the uplift of the seabed.

Cool spot at the end of the road in Kaikoura. Quick but steep walk to the summit or longer options if keen. Seals were cool but lots of people not keeping a good distance from them. Must do if exploring Kaikoura or if you have a few hours to kill before negotiating the road works to the ferry. Toilets were accessible and clean. Lots of parking.

Very easy to find on Google maps. Just straight ahead from Kaikoura Visitors center. This is also the starting or finishing of coastal walks. Were arrived to a nearly full car park. I took a point away because there is hardly any shade. Summer heat can be very brutal. However, sunrise is beautiful.
