This was an amazing experience for myself and two boys. The crew were all fantastic and couldn’t have been more helpful. The boys enjoyed climbing up to the topsail boom and along to the front of the bowsprit. When we stopped at one of the islands there was an opportunity to go ashore but the boys were happy jumping off the boat and using the rope swing. Lunch was provided and everything was so well organised. Sailing was lovely and the boys even had a chance to steer on our return back to Russell. Tour included return ferry to Russell from Paihia which is also worth a visit. This is probably going to be the best trip of our holiday not sure how we will better this experience.

This is a great experience I really enjoy the great hospitality and amazing cruise. We sailed through the picturesque bay of islands with heaps of fun and adventures activities on board for all ages. The lunch was great and the island stop perfect. On our way in to the harbour we decided to sail for a bit then gave the helm back to Captain Sam. We then opted for a nice glass of red to enjoy the last part of our journey. This is a great option to do in the bay of islands.

My husband and I were debating whether to do the day sail with the R Tucker Thompson due to the price and our limited budget. I think doing so was the best decision we have made on this trip. The staff was incredibly friendly and made the day unforgettable. Everyone had the option of simply relaxing on deck and enjoying the delicious tea and lunch. Or, for those who were more adventurous, we had the opportunity to help hoist the sails, climb the rigging, and jump off the rope swing into the ocean at the lunch stop! It was an absolutely amazing day! I would be quite happy coming back another day and volunteering just to get another experience on this incredible boat.

This has to be the best way to experience the Bay of Islands. Don't spend your hard earnt money on dolphin cruises or Island tours, this has it all! Very friendly and supportive crew, you get to be a part of sailing and the best part is it includes morning tea and lunch! It's personal and an experience shared with all ages.

This is a rare opportunity to sail aboard an actual "tall ship." We had a great day sail; evening sails are also available. The crew were very professional and helpful, also very safety-conscious. Guests who wanted to could try climbing the rigging, hauling sail, and steering the boat. Our tour included young couples, older folks, families with kids, and some of these with grandparents as well. The food was surprisingly good! I loved that by joining the trip we are also supporting the not-for-profit foundation that takes youth out sailing in the off-season.

What a great day. The kids (5y&4y) and parents loved it. The crew is very nice with the kids, taught them knots. Food & drinks were great.

A day out on the water in the best possible way. Absolutely brilliant and I couldn't say enough good things about the boat, the crew and the beautiful scenery. Topped off with a stop at one of the many islands in the bay and a hike up the hill to the WWII era bunkers and the gorgeous views. You even get a nice lunch to which we added a bottle of wine. Amazing value for money and it's nice to know that the income earned by the trust is used for youth training and boat maintenance rather than disappearing into some faceless monolith that spends 90 percent of income on administration. Well done to Captain Tim and this amazing trust.
