β β β β β Rolled in on our way to Rotorua (Rotovegas) for some go juice & a Mince n Cheese.
Clean & well kept cafe. Facilities were sparkling & stocked. Nice to see a clean WC when youβve been on the road for s few hrs. Good job guys!!
Pleasant & friendly staff, service with a smile.
Knocked out a huge brown water a Mince n Cheese & a sausage roll. Everything was delicious & filling.
Parking was a breeze.

β β β β β Coffee were fine. However the breakfast were horrible. Scramble egg were tasteless and done too well. Didn't use fresh oil to cook as the oil odour is pretty bad. Wont return for sure.

β β β β β The coffees were slow to arrive but there was alot of people there present. The food however was very surprising as the chicken, mushroom, camembert pie was great! The Raspberry sauce with the pie gave a very nice and interestingly sweet and savory taste! Very nice and would suggest anyone to try it!

β β β β β Unfortunately, this is the worst customer experience of any Cafe I've had for a long time. Being Robert Harris, I was disgusted. We were there at around 12:15 pm today. The lady behind the counter kept interrupting me while I was trying to explain the order, she also kept talking to others, then going off to finish another order, before coming back to "TRY" and get ours right. She was generally rude, abrupt, unhelpful, and too rushed. When I got my coffee it was completely wrong. After getting someone else to check the till receipt, another lady brought the correct coffee and admitted they'd got it wrong.
Over the 15 minutes we were there, there were tables that were not cleared. A breach of Health and Safety I'm sure.
The attached pics highlight it.
ANOTHER major was the amount of flies around tables, customers, and the food - be it at customers tables, or tables that hadn't been cleared. This experience can only be described as disgusting.
It was obvious Robert Harris, Matamata was understaffed. They appeared not to take pride in their service, or customer experience.
If this is the latest standard of Robert Harris Matamata, I think it appalling. Not the standard I'd expect from Robert Harris.
I'm sure the owners of Robert Harris NZ will be shocked to learn of this.
Would I recommend Robert Harris, Matamata. Definitely NO.. Will I go back? - I may, purely because I travel to Auckland often, and it's handy. However, I'll check other cafes, given we have choices in life. NOT a pleasant experience.

β β β β β Standard cafe situation for NZ. Decent coffee and chillers with extra whipped cream. Convenient location across from the Lord of the Rings visitor centre so itβs great to people watch and soak up the sights.
Staff were friendly but when we asked for a coffee to-go and one chiller for here they delivered all to have at the cafe. Minor inconvenience staff were friendly regardless must have been a miscommunication.
Cabinet food were fresh looking and decent proportion.

β β β β β Absolutely the best service, the waitress was polite and friendly and the food was delicious! Portions were generous (yum) and absolutely the best we have had. Our table was situated by a window where we had a good view overlooking the paddock. It is the perfect place to visit. Our waitress was friendly. When on the road, take a break at this great cafe/restaurant. We certainly will be back! Thank you restaurant waitress and team. From 2 satisfied diners.... The Waltons
