★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic hike - well worth challenging yourself. Be sure to bring lots of water if going up in summer.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We started at 4:35 and reached the lookout around 7:45 to witness the beautiful sunrise! loved it so much! It’s amazing on the second time around! This is my favourite so far. It was windy & 0 degrees on the top. Don’t forget to wear a wind proof jacket, gloves and scarf.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We did it at sunset and had the whole track to ourselves. Awesome views, there’s a reason that this hike is so insanely popular!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We didn’t get to the real peak but only the famous lookout and the view was stunning. In fact, the view had been amazing throughout the whole journey , which makes it absolutely rewarding.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Very wide hike, albeit steep. Hard on knees on the way down.
There's a picnic table you can rest at and the viewpoint is just short of the peak. There's a toilet, but should bring toilet paper and hand santizer for it.
The peak view is amazing though, so don't skip out, even though the lower viewpoint is more instagrammable.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Started this hike at 5.30am and took about 2.5hrs to get to lookout point, just before sunrise. Spent about 30mins at top and took 2 hrs to get back to carpark. Beginner hikers. Took frequent breaks (pretty much every 50m for the first half hour as quite steep). Between 2 of us had 2 mandarins, 1 up and go and 1 Museli bar on the walk up. Take more water than you think you'll need.
Done towards the end of May with only about 4-5 other people in front of us at that time and avoided the sun most of the hike, I'd say this is the best time for it. Found it mentally easier to do in the dark as you can't see how far you have to go!
One crazy guy running up and down before we even got half way.
The view at the end (and on the way up of Wanaka) DEFINITELY worth it!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We did it by night and arrived for the sunset. Was amazing and we love the stars in the sky, the view, the sunset at the top. Careful when you arrive at the top : you can climb the peak or just follow the walk trail if you are too scared ??
