★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed in Taupo for nearly a week while waiting for the crossing and ended up going in here nearly everyday when I wanted something to do. Everyone there was so helpful and kind, and were great to talk to and get opinions from when deciding what to do for the day.
If you're stuck for something to do, give this place a visit
(Also, there are no toilets in the building, but there are free ones about 100m up the road, away from the lake)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Having not booked anything when coming back from Whangarei we went to the Information Centre in Taupo on the off chance they knew if there was any available rooms ... Deb was so helpful and found us a room for the night ... she also put us on a call list for a 2nd night ... we had a lovely night and as it was a gamble we would find anything for the 2nd night we decided to head home to Wellington we got a call half way through the Desert Rd with an offer of a room which had just had a cancellation... none of this would have happened if Deb wasn’t so amazing at her job ... thank you

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Staff here are very good. Although extremely busy they were mindful of assisting everyone. There's plenty of information on things to do in the whole region & pamphlets were displayed in a well organised manner. Nice, welcoming & friendly.
