★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great hosts. Di was amazing putting us in the river where we were best suited. Had z great day paddling, only our party at doc site. Grant was there waiting for us on our return with cold drinks! Excellent job team.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Did a 3 day trip with friends canoeing down the beautiful Whanganui River. Grant and Pat were beyond helpful through every step of the process. After forgetting our gear at a previous campsite, they opened up their lodge for us to stay another night. The views and the trip were beautiful without a doubt but I will not soon forget the hospitality and kindness that they showed. A beautiful trip where we got to meet some even more beautiful people. Highly recommend, cannot wait to return 10/10

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Just had the most amazing time on the Whanganui river thanks to Grant and Pat and the team, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
The whole experience was smooth, personal, kind and no-fuss. Communication with Grant to book was easy and he quickly replied. Since we could find no pictures of the accommodation we were a little nervous, but it was really convenient! Basic but amazing hot showers, and meant the setting off process in the morning was smooth.
He provided all the equipment that we needed and a quick briefing and we were off with a minimum of faff. Pat was our driver and he was a legend.
Everyone we encountered through our time was lovely, and really heightened the experience.
If we come back, we would absolutely book again with Grant/Owhango adventures.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I spent time working out which canoe hire company would be the best for our trip and definitely made the right choice - Grant and his team at Owhango Adventures are the best people to book with. Not only do they provide free accommodation for the night before you go to the river (and they charge the same price for canoe hire as the competitors who don't provide any accommodation) but they run a seamless operation that gives you all the correct gear you need and transports you to the river and back. Grant even shouted us a beer at his pub at the end of the trip, legend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ 6 of us did a self guided 4 day river trip and had an incredible time. Grant made it stress free and very enjoyable, he was super helpful, full of useful tips and advice for along the way, couldn't have asked for better service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had a brilliant time doing the three-day unguided Whanganui river journey with Grant and Pat. We got lucky with great weather and although we had a couple mishaps along the way (left car keys at Bridge to Nowhere lodge on our last night!) Grant let us stay another night and offered us amazing hospitality at the Owhango Lodge. Book with Owhango adventures for a culturally sensitive and established trip, book here if you want to experience the real thing. The Whanganui awa is living n breathing, it carried us past the first campsite (John Coull) so we could spend a night alone at the next campsite down the river.
Thank you to Grant n Pat, Really helped us out and that won’t be forgotten, ka pai , tino pai, Ngā mihi nui Grant and Pat, and Ti hei mauri ora. Ps my film camera had old film in it so the pictures came out funky and pink tinted

Grant helped us out heaps with the planning of our Whanganui River Journey in terms of campsites to stay at, what to pack, how to tie everything up in our canoe etc. Pat was waiting for us at the end of our trip to take us back and was really friendly and helpful too. We felt taken care of and looked after by the team at Owhango Adventures and really enjoyed our trip. Thanks heaps ?

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Right from the word go Grant was friendly, engaging and amenable to our requests and change of plans. I took my brothers on a two day trip from Cherry grove, bought forward a couple of days due to forecast rain. Grant was flexible in choice of kayaks (singles) and trip timing which was appreciated. Safety briefing was as it should be... brief and appropriate to our experience! Gear was good! Time on the river was memorable and great to be greeted by a smiling Grant at Whakahoro with a cold drink! He displayed his wealth of local knowledge and experience with us and happily chatted with us all the way back to Base. we have been with other operators and were so pleased we chose Owhango Adventures. No dramas and would choose Grant and team anytime, and take advantage of the free accommodation offer at the Tavern too. Thanks once again, Nigel
