Te Kairanga was established in 1984 and is an important part of the Martinborough story. Our land was originally owned by the founding father of Martinborough, John Martin. While this land is steeped in history, Te Kairanga's winemaking is very much focused on the future, to fully realise the potential of this incredible piece of land.

Our history goes back, and back again. In the 1880s, Martinborough’s founder, John Martin, farmed this very piece of land. In the 1980s a new generation were inspired to produce something even more special. Today our craft continues – to fully realise the potential of this incredible piece of land.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Dont expect to be served sioup in a takeaway coffee cup at a winery for a sit down meal.Chocolate tart had been cut in half and then in half again.. Service nice. Wine very avearage and our paid for glass was very definitely on the slim side! Not overly impressed over all.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Make sure you stop here on your tour. The wine and gin are top notch, great setting with friendly and knowledgeable staff. Made all the better by the awesome puppy on site! Try the mulled gin for something different. The wine and Lighthouse gin we bought won't last long!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were moved out of our seats and told to eat off the ground outside as the staff wanted to use our table for tasting for 2 other customers half way through our lunch.
As wairarapa locals we are Absolutely disgusted at the customer service.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a disappointment as we had heard such good things about this place .
We arrived for our reserved tasting on Saturday 3rd April and the place was busy.
We had a reserved table and were seated.
Our first tasting came 10 minutes later and the lady was too rushed to really explain the history of the vineyard or even the wine , they ran out of sheets showing the wines so we had one for the four of us.
We then waited , then waited, then waited , the a bus full of people turned up and we waited and waited.
After 45 minutes we left and went to our next vineyard.
Such a shame as we were looking forward to taste their Chardonnay , Pinot noir and their Gin, but was not meant to be .

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Whoever was working today at the cellar door, she was amazing!!!! I did a wine tasting of all the grapes I like and my lady had a gin tasting and loved it. walked away with 2 bottles of tasty goodness. Thanks!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The customer service was appalling. After hearing great things about the food. We arrived ordered our wine (which was hardly a glass) and food, sat at a table until the lady behind the counter asked us to move out on to the ground outside for another pair of customers who where for some reason more important. Our food arrived to the table and the people sat at our table felt terrible and offered us to sit with them so we could eat our food. It just blows my mind that someone would even consider moving seated customers. She could have asked us if we were ok to share the table with these new people as there was enough room. Absolutely appalling!
