★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great locals run this museum, to recount mining in Reefton and local area. With hands on panning available and a wealth of facts about the local mining operations it is a great place to check out.
Make sure you drop in a donation on your way out to keep this local knowledge open for everyone that comes through the town.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Locally run by bearded volunteers. This little living museum is a tribute to days gone by in Reefton. These dedicated men have put together a working replica of a little mining hut. They work and play around the hut and are very knowledgeable about the gold mining era.
When we were there we we're offered scones made in a cast iron pot over a coal fire.... Beautiful flavour!
This is a free museum with a donation box if you choose.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A must see when visiting Reefton. The volunteers have vast local knowledge to share and are entertaining story tellers. Our 3 boys where even shown several magic tricks. The replica miner's hut is very authentic.
