About Wellington Dermatology
Qualifications and History
Dr Taylor graduated from the Otago University School of Medicine in 1980. Dr Taylor commenced his specialist training in Internal Medicine and Dermatology in Hamilton in 1985 and in 1987 moved to the United States to complete his training. Dr Taylor finalised his training at the University of Oklahoma in 1989. Dr Taylor then completed a one year Fellowship in Dermatological Surgery in Oklahoma city and spent six months as a clinical instructor in Dermatology at the University of Oklahoma Dermatology Department.
In 1990 Dr Taylor returned to New Zealand and divided his time between working at Wellington Hospital and setting up his own private practice in Wellington.
Dr Taylor has continued to practice in both public and private practice as a Specialist Dermatologist. He is a Senior Consultant Dermatologist at Wellington Hospital and is also credentialed to work in Wakefield and Southern Cross Hospital’s in Wellington city.
Dr Taylor is a Member of the New Zealand Dermatological Society where he has served for 12 years on the executive, as secretary for 4 years and in 2016 – 2018 as President of the Society. He is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, and overseas member of the American Academy of Dermatology, member of the New Zealand Medical Association, past Patron of the New Zealand Psoriasis Association. Dr Taylor has been involved in teaching local General Practitioners, General practitioner trainees, hospital junior doctors and allied professionals in dermatology. He has presented extensively at meetings and conferences and has published a number of articles.
