We are a Wellington City based General Practice in Courtenay place. Our GPs offer a full range of general practice medical services. Our practice on the edge of Mount Victoria has two very experienced doctors. Port Nicholson Medical offers excellent quality medical and nursing services with easy access to our friendly practice staff. There is ample parking in the vicinity, including a parking building immediately opposite . There are multiple bus routes adjacent to Port Nicholson Medical Centre.
Our doctors are available for general consultations, minor surgery and routine medical examinations. We also offer travel medicine, hormone replacement therapy for menopause and long term birth control options including the fitting of IUCDs, Mirena, Implanton, Jadelle and Depo Provera
We have a dietitian on site and Horizon Radiology is conveniently located in the same building.
We work closely with local physiotherapists and podiatrists. Southern Community Laboratory has a collection depot in a convenient adjacent building for easy access to laboratory services.
Our doctors work in teams and you should always be able to see a doctor if your preferred doctor is unavailable.
Standard appointments are for 15 minutes and we ask that you appreciate the need for the doctor to keep to time. If you need longer than 15 minutes we recommend you book a double (or 30 minute) appointment, or return for a second appointment another day. The double (30 minute) appointment is more cost effective than paying for two separate 15 minute appointments - please refer to our pricing schedules by clicking here. If you have a number of problems to discuss please discuss with our receptionist the best time for you to make an appointment.
Specific medical examinations such as insurance medicals and minor surgery will require longer appointments to be booked, so please advise reception when booking these services. standard consultation fees do not apply to these services.
The NZ Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) provides no-fault personal injury cover for all New Zealand residents and visitors. This insurance cover is comprehensive but does not meet the full costs of primary injury management so an ACC surcharge applies.
For those patients insured with Southern Cross we offer Ezi-Claim a quick claim system using your Southern Cross card.

I think i think and i think.
I’m not there to hear what you think i need medication for problems I got.
Completely waste but had no option to go anywhere in urgency.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ OMG how things change. For many years, Lorraine was the best GP inWellington and everyone went to her. But over the ;last 5 years she has totally lost he plot. The hooro stories I hear are sooo bad. Endless wrong diagnoses, obsession with routine tests like mammograms when you present with a different urgent problem, really wrong things entered on files...RUN. I now don't know anyone who still goes to her. Jan Barret is good but often seems rundown and overwhelmed. Trish just does what Lorraine says.A number of people have called the medical council about her, but I don't think anyone has gone through with a complaint.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I have been to Port Nicholson several times for myself and my children in the last year. I find the staff and doctors warmly professional. The care they provided has always been excellent and detailed. I pay out of pocket as an ex pat working here but have found the rates much less comparable to doctors of the same caliber in the States.
I highly recommended Port Nicholson, in particular, Dr. Trish Reeves who is simply wonderful!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ DONT GO THERE !!! I paid 95$ for one call from the doctor(5minutes), and he give me the good remedy but not for enough time, so I'm still sick, and I have to pay again 95$ for the same prescription.
Good business for the center.
The secretary wasn't trying to help me and don't listen the patient..

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Jan Barrett is THE best Dr I've had the pleasure of dealing with over the years, and I've dealt with more than most. She can run behind time, but that's generally because she's so popular and prob struggles with her work load. But if you want THE best in town, look no further. Lynda on the front desk is awesome and friendly to deal with too. A great team.
