★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s absolutely incredible to have a remnant podocarp and beech forest of this quality in Hawkes Bay. Go so you can understand what this area ought to be. Ecological restoration needs to take place in order to expand the boundaries of this reserve.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ A stunning walk through original native forest. The path is fairly well maintained and mostly easy, although the loop back to the car park is a little trickier with a lot of roots on the path. Some wonderful tall trees.
