★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not very impressed this time round. We’ve been coming here for many years but this time we had a few issues. We had a massive invasion of ants in our room which made one of the beds unusable. The cold water on the hot tub didn’t work so we missed out on that. And it doesn’t feel very kid friendly. Us and another family were trying to swim in the family pool but pretty unwelcome with all the rules. Might try somewhere different next time.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Stayed here mid-week with a group of 25 of us. First class hospitality, rooms were fantastic and the pool and cabana a great place for us all to get together. An excellent host. Will certainly be back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We were running behind schedule to check in communication before arriving was great to have with Barry and Jody. We stayed here for 6 days (5 nights) my partner and I were exceptionally happy with our stay. We had room 4 (ground floor) which had our own spa easy to fill and drain whenever we wanted. which was used to its full potential I don't know how many times I had turned that hot water tap on ? bathroom and room was very tidy blessed with a big comfy bed. TV (sky and a smart TV which you could signin to youtube and Netflix) the service was awesome. We were lucky enough to have another guest cancel their booking which we decided to stay another night but this time was in room 15 (executive suite) which had spectacular views. Very spacious and a nice hot tub with jets. The big pool was very calming and relaxing. It was just a awesome retreat we had before getting back to reality. Thank you Barry and Jody for your awesome service highly recommend for those who are looking for a get away to relax and unwind.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place was found by a happy accident. $195 for 2 people for a night in Taupo with a private thermal spa/tub on the private deck, also has a cook top. Had an 11am check out on request, lovley people, a very comfortable and large bed. I will definitely be back next time im in Taupo. We had room 6

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Bay Crest is a awesome place to stay. An amazing room with a great view and a bonus was a super comfortable bed! Good location ,friendly efficient housekeepers that we actually look forward to seeing when they come to service our room. I had the best most friendly and helpful service from the owners. Fantastic experience. Highly recommend.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Have stayed here previously mainly for the thermal spa. This time however the weather was fairly wet which caused issues when using the thermal spa as it is situated outside with only a partial coverage so that when it rained it would come halfway too all the way into the spa.
Room was a good size with kitchenette.
Loved my stay apart from the wet weather.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ It’s easy to see why this place is so highly rated, from the moment we arrived we were impressed. Barry the owner showed us a couple of rooms, very clean and spacious with views of the lake.
The pool is small but very cool (actually 32c bliss!) with an attached cabana offering cold drinks, ice etc all on an honesty box type system.
We couldn’t fault baycrest lodge and we will be back.

Set just off the main road opposite Lake Taupo, the views are incredible as it’s set off a busy road therefore your view is over an expansive lake & snow covered mountain rather than road traffic. It’s an easy flat walk into town, so no need to drive. The property itself provide top quality linen and and pride themselves as sustainability conscience. The rooms are clean with attention to detail & had all the little conveniences you’d need. The heated saltwater pool was the “cherry on top”. It transported you into a tropical holiday feel complete with waterfall and ambiance lighting at night. They also provide a cabana with all the things you may have left behind, drinks (honesty bar..where you write down what you had and pay later) sunblock, books, filtered water and ice buckets. It was very Kiwi. We met Barry (the owner), really friendly & genuine who was always happy to help.
We’ll definitely be back.
