Very friendly welcoming staff. So warm and welcoming I ended up spending my Christmas here. The wifi is basically unlimited (2 gbs per day) Kitchen is nice but there are a lot of flies. There is also a grill and brick pizza oven they fire up every week or so. If you see a black cat running around I found him at pakn'save and brought him over and they ended up adopting him. Give him a pat for me!

Good and affordable place to stay in Kaitaia. The dorm rooms get hot inside but if you ask the receptionist they will give you a fan for the room. The shared kitchen is huge however the frying pans and scrubbers could stand to be replaced as they are worn and not in good condition. The toilets are OK But there’s only 3 for the backpackers with a communal tub sink outside and the showers are fine. Location is next door to KFC and a bit of a walk to Pak n’ Save but quick by car. I did the Cape Reinga tour and pick up was at the backpackers which was convenient. Wifi was decent but not fast by any means. Dorm room was comfortable enough. Carpets were clean. Families stay here and people who are living there long term with an occasional traveller. Not much of a backpacker atmosphere to meet people unless you have someone in your room perhaps like I did.

Great place for big families. Loved the kitchen.. Would recommend for any coming up to Kataia. Room was perfect for my big family. See you next time I'm up in the north mate.

Positives; friendly staff and very helpful. The manager tried to fix the no reception on the tv. The front desk lady was lovely. The room was spacious, clean and the bed was the best. I am going to buy me one. The facilities are great for all types of travellers. Negatives; we had the room next the kitchen and it was busy so we got a lot of the noise.

Was here in early 2020. I remember it was a perfect night with a cute cat that came often for cuddles ? Great place

Well equipped and clean. Lovely shared kitchen, bbq area and game room. The studio rooms contain an ensuite shower and toilet, a mini fridge and jug. Friendly staff.

I had a great stay here, on my Te Araroa journey - lovely helpful staff. So good I stayed two nights. A shame neither the pool or spa were operational - very close to town and a great restaurant nearby (no, not KFC)

The staff at reception was good. Kitchen was nice and clean Room was clean and tidy. But the price is lil high for the shared dormitory. Location was easy to find but the building was different.we had to search a lil bit to find it. Wifi was not working and no concern to rectify it from the management.(the lady at reception tried to help) Bathrooms were just 3 and one on repair , and too smelly . (Near dormitory)
