About Eat.co.nz

EAT has been cooking for people one meal at a time since 2009.

Everyone at EAT is a foodie or foodette, we all love food and we love cooking food. When you come from a long line of truly competent cooks, (Margaret’s grandmother was one of the early graduates of Cordon bleu cooking school and also taught celebrity chef Graham Kerr a thing or two in the kitchen) its easy!

But it was a simple act of love that lead them to the ultimate establishment of a brand which is NZ’s favourite and #1 provider of home delivered, Fresh, ready to heat and EAT meals!

When Margaret’s mother died her father lost the will to cook for himself. He simply wasn’t eating in spite of a fridge full of food, so making him complete fresh chilled meals which he could just microwave – no preparation required was the only option. Chance encounters led to others expressing an interest and when a request came through for 250 copies of the menu it was time to put things on a more formal footing.

Good, honest, wholesome but delicious meals made with only real ingredients may be the name of the game but it’s the relationship with customers which really makes the company sing. Our customers know good food. Period! It’s a lot to honour and we strive to achieve it one meal at a time……..

WELCOME TO EAT

The home of fresh, ready to heat and EAT meals.

I have been picking up these meals now for about 4 years for my elderly Mum who has always enjoyed quality food. Staff are extremely efficient, friendly, professional and helpful. Has made life a lot easier for Mum & the family know she enjoys getting these nutritious meals.

I have been ordering online or by email for several weeks now. Communication by phone has been helpful and friendly. Food is good. This service has made life easier for me. A year on from doing this review I stopped ordering. Don't like the green olives and red wine. The flavours could be better. If you order a bigger serving all you get is more rice. Not worth it.

Eat is a lifesaver! When my health deteriorated my diet did too because I was having trouble cooking regularly for myself. I knew I shouldn't survive on takeaways much longer so I looked for an alternative. I have been ordering 7 meals a week from Eat. Each week they have at least 9 meals on the menu and I would say at least 6-7 appeal to me. I have tried aboutΒ 30 different meals so far and only two were not to my taste. The meals are really tasty! They also cook up well in the microwave, even the meat and fish. My favourites so far are the pork steak with dijon or peppercorn sauce, sausages and gravy, pasta pomodoro, swiss steak with garlic butter, and fish puttanesca. Even something simple like shepherd's pie was reallyΒ good. I've never felt the need to add any seasoning or sauce to anything. I also tried the cheesecake and it was very rich and creamy!. These meals are really helping me to manage my diet well and it is totally worth the cost, I think it's good value and I always try to take advantage of the '7 for the price of 6'Β deal and the $10 specials. My only 'request' would be that it would be great if the office was open a bit later for pick ups even just one day a week, I live locally but the opening hours are still too tight to get there after work. I've recommended it toΒ my friends, Eat doesn't require any subscriptions so even if you just want to try it out for a week, go for it. You can even order just a few meals to give you a break from cooking a few nights a week.

I’ve used Eat many times over the last few years and have always been happy with the meals. Whether fresh or frozen, they are so darn tasty! Well-priced, and love that there’s so many options.

The meals are second to none. The cooking process is speedy and makes good sense. The variety of meals to choose from daily is only matched by the choice from week to week. We've never been let down by the delivery process and the packaging to the door is exemplary!

The wife ordered a week of meals for herself for a little something different. Upon arrival,we were very impressed with the care with which the meals were packed and the speed with which they arrived. Unfortunately, she would have been better off eating the packaging. The free range chicken roast meal was no better than a cheap tv dinner. When cooked, it resembled a soup more than a roast. The rolled free range chicken did at least stay together. Your money would be far better spent on a family roast at Pak'n'Save, portioned out over a week, cheaper and more appetizing by far.
