★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Enigma has been a favourite of mine since moving to Wellington in 2018. Been here more times than I can remember, but have always had lovely service and great coffee, chai lattes, and cabinet food. One of the best things about this cafe is their opening hours - when everywhere else is closed you can still count on being able to get your coffee from here!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I did not have a good experiences in this cafe. Piece of cheescake or cake is expensive ($10 or 12). The Chcken panini wasnt tasty. Coffee was so strong like over coocked. I know the look of the pace is kind of dark mood and grungy, but chairs were broken and unconfortable. The woman toilet was dirty. Please dont leave your disgusting toilet brush unattendent and repair the broken door. Customers pay good money for your food and services, so take care of the place and enployees.
About the service was ok. Service was quit and the employees were friendly.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Good place in general. Good food and prices are decent. Staff could be friendlier though. The ambience is also a bit weird.
Their shakes are top notch. Definitely recommended.
The food is also mostly good.
Desserts are the ones that are a hit or miss in my opinion. Especially the ones in display.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place has been absolutely my favorite for years, and staffs are always friendly and always welcomed me. Of course, this is the last place to go, when everywhere is closed. It's very sad to leave this review that last Monday, my friend and I ordered different types of cake for each of us, with the cream on side, then that evening, we both experienced intense stomach ache along with sudden diarrhea. We couldn't sleep a whole night with expansion of stomach. The cream was the only thing we both ate in the same day, and we had same symptons right after ... :( To make it fair, this is the only bad experience in the last few years and hope this won't happen again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This place needs a good cleaning. All furniture is old with lots of scratches, cracks and peeling paint. the dark interior gives the impression that no cleaning has been done since opening. For me, the cake was too sweet and tough, but this is personal preference. Coffee is ok but nothing special.

Fine coffee from humming bird and delicious cheesecakes
Very much recommended if you are into the dark side and the ghetto atmosphere with lots of graffiti and chipped away paint.
