β β β β β Budget accommodation. Room was clean, beds were comfy. Reception/food staff could spend less time mucking around and instead offer better customer service. Downfall, staff forgot my food order left me waiting while they chatted and also ignored another customer. Plus side - they make great milkshakes

β β β β β Reviews below are, frankly, mostly ridiculously low. This is a fantastic hostel with great clean rooms, friendly staff and a really nice kitchen and lounge area. $35 NZ a night is top of the price range but in fairness for a 4 bed dorm anywhere that's about standard. Wifi is $5 for 24 hours but people need to get a grip, if you are in NZ you don't need to be on your phone 24/7, get out and see the country! As a note to the long review below, I am in room 14 as luck would have it and the mattresses have been replaced - now very comfy! Highly recommended to anyone, great place!

β β β β β More a Backpackers than a Hotel. Itβs very minimalistic but okay. Our shower smelled awful like an animal had died in there. Wifi wasnβt good. Bed was okay. Staff was friendly. Very limited cutlery in the shared dining room and the kitchen was clean but very old and the utensils were a bit outdated, too.

β β β β β Stayed here with Kiwi experience and it was nice, rooms were clean with big comfy beds! Kitchen a decent size and WiFi ok but didnβt reach the room. Male showers/toilets a bit run down and not enough to go around!

β β β β β My husband and I stayed in a private room while visiting Waitomo. The room was spacious, had a mini fridge, and the shared kitchen facilities were clean. However, this was the least comfortable bed I can ever remember sleeping on (you could feel every coil...) and the toilet made an awful shrieking noise.

β β β β β Staff were super friendly and everything was clean or new. Some strange times for when meals are served in the restaurant, which weren't well advertised, but the bar next door sells the same food when the on-site kitchen is closed. Rooms were also really good value - we stayed in a double with a private bathroom, TV, heater, and fridge.

β β β β β This really is the sort of place you want to come home to whilst touring the country. It's clean, simple and has everything you need for a good stay.
