Great campsite off the beaten track with toilets and BBQ only. Plenty of space. Spread out, don't lock other campers in! Be aware it gets busy with backpackers, don't pitch your tent too close to others as cars will eventually appear! Be a friendly camper ;) this campsite is great when you are :)

It's a nice spot with a quick and relatively easy walk round the lake available. They were boarding up the toilet block just as we left and replacing with portaloos so maybe not a great place to stop overnight. Payment is directly to Rotorua DC.

Nice lake but surrounds very overgrown and neglected. Toilets particularly so. Ekk! The track around the lake says part suitable for wheelchairs. There is no way this is possible. The whole place needs a good tidy up.

Stunning lakeside camping with a perimeter walkway to stretch the legs upon arrival and suss out fishing spots. Nice birdlife and yes, the fish were biting.

Pretty small lake, but we pulled out some decent sized trout. Good track around the lake edge for a leisurely stroll, or run around a couple of times for a cardio kick. No shower facilities and portaloos are in place.

We paid NZD 8 per adult in September 2020. We made the payment online as instructed in the camping site. Amazing view for sure but toilets were closed and there were two portable ones in the camping site. Do not park in the grass. You may sink. Btw the camping site was quite small.

Enchanting, remote but close, peaceful, great setting. As a “go to” that’s just minutes off the beaten track, it’s a gem. And there’s still the walk that circumnavigates the lake that we will do next time we come ?

It’s alright if you have your own equipment. Otherwise i recommend taking some chairs and desk with you. For $8 pn I would expect at least lights on toilets.
