★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Wiamangu Volcanic Valley south of Rotarua, worth a visit, a 4km walk downhill through "steamy" lakes & rivers with a bus pickup back to the top. At the bottom of the 4km there is a boat which can be taken around the lake for an extra charge. Price was $44 for an adult with seniors $8 cheaper.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We went on the Rotomahana boat cruise. It's a lovely, peaceful cruise. Really lovely people. Just make sure you go to the toilet before going down on the bus. Didn't get to eat at the Cafe because we had another appointment but we will try it next time.

Currently a special of $50 (reduced from $80) for unguided walk, boat and bus.
So much to explore.
The walk was approximately 5.5km to the boat. It does say 4 but we did some extra bits.
Good paths but wear good shoes. Plenty of picnic areas too and there is a cafe.
If hot wear a hat and plenty of sunscreen as lots of uncovered parts.
