★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Come to see the wonders of a volcanic region. New Zealand is on the ring of fire and it shows in this park. Get out and enjoy. There are several stopping points. Do them all. The visitor center will collect the entrance fees.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The best mud pools we've seen while exploring Rotorua. A fairly large sized pool of bubbling mud, sometimes with quite violent bursts, you can see mud splattered on the inside of the fencing, which gives you a good idea of how intense the bursts can get. Best of all, this is a DOC site meaning it's one of the few attractions in this area that are free to visit.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Rich in history, peaceful, I always get that feeling of a living Earth. I think about the people who once lived here and the benefits geothermal activity had to offer. It really is worth look, just drive right up and get close to boiling hot mud.

This was so awesome! I've never seen anything like this before, not on this scale at least ? and it's free
The mud was literally boiling hot ?between 60 and 80 Degrees Celcius
Located between Rotorua and Taupo, this mud pool is a short distance from the main road and definitely worth a detour to visit. There is a well constructed walkway and paths which provide great views ?☺
