A really beautiful wide, sandy beach with Mount Maunganui and its walking trails adjacent. There is plenty of free parking along the beach area, and public toilets, changing rooms and showers available. Along the road there are plenty of restaurants and shops to explore and enjoy. Be sure to take the time to walk the Mount Maunganui base trail, and hike up to the lookout for panoramic views of the surrounding beaches and ocean. Also, be sure to explore Motoriki Island when you are there. It can get busy here at this beach (and a little crowded) on weekends and holidays, as it is very popular. If you want to escape the crowds, or want a little more space for yourself or your family, just drive 10 or 15 minutes south and use Papamoa Beach. It is absolutely huge, and almost never crowded.

The most amazing walking place in Tauranga. As you walk around the mountain you get enough sun, enough shade, enough stunning views, good fitness, plenty of places to choose for stopping, resting and relaxing, for playing with kids. There are ? ? at the beginning of the walk and at the end but nothing in between. The walk around takes about 40+ min. If you go with kids make sure you have enough water and use the toilet in the beginning of your journey. You can start your walk from any side of the mountain but the view will appear differently. So, if you have time try both walks. My favorite start is from the left side of the mountain as most of the time you will walk downhill and the view is more beautiful. But it's just how I like it. People may enjoy walking uphill too. You may also choose to go up the mountain but we never tried it yet. Maybe soon. Enjoy this little gem of Tauranga!

Tauranga's most famous beach. Great for surfing, taking a walk along the walkway, sunbathing or grab a coffee or quick bit to eat. Can be difficult to find a parking close to cafes but the walk is great. If your after a challenge the walk up the Mount is fantastic.

Maunganui Beach at Tauranga Visited on 29/1/2019 After our descent from the Mount Maunganui, we have a brief rest at the Information Centre. Olease note that the Infornation is an information centre, and NOT a rest area. Not far from the Centre is the beautiful Mauunganui Beach with fine white sand. It is a sunny day, and just right for the sun loving Beach goers and swimmers. It is too hot for our liking, and we choose to walk along Marine Parade.

We have the most beautifuliest beach in the world! Sorry bit biast lol and having been to a beach overseas that was just too pebble amd stoney. Where can I start the sand is soft and silky on your feet, the views sunrise sunset are amazing, adorned with gorgeous shells, lots of room as the beach goes on for miles and miles. The main beach area along from the cafes has beautiful pohutakawa trees to shelter in the shade. Toliet block individual toliets near the surf club as well as one along from that a little 5/10 min walk if you take your time. There is so much to do there surfing, swimming, fishing, volleyball games, sunbathing, crab finding around leisure Island. Also near the 2nd set of toliets is "The Waves cafe truck" 24 marine parade the best toasted sandwiches!!especially the cheese, and caramelized onions and tomato deliciously yummy! Anyway there is lots to do and see at mount maunganui beach it dosent matter what time of the day or the season!

A beautiful beach with white soft sand & flat breath front from the waterfront. It’s just adjacent to the famous Mt Maunganui & therefore a great place for sunbathe & swimming after the long hard hike up to the Mountain. There’s more than plenty of parking lots & pubs/cafes along the streets.
