Did a transfercar vehicle relocation Queenstown to Christchurch-$5 a day plus road user chargers of $8 a 100km - over 3 days total $103 plus diesel - great value. Good service, van was a bit rattly to ride in but if you have the time to stop and enjoy the facilities it’s like a picnic basket on wheels. Worked for us!

This was our first time hiring a Campervan from Mighty Campers in Christchurch. We throughly enjoyed the experience and would hire from them again if and when we visit the South Island. We hired a four berth Campervan and it had all the comforts of being at home. The vehicle was clean and ready for us when we got off the plane. The staff were really helpful and gave clear instructions about the vehicle before we left the depot to start our travel to Oamaru and Dunedin. We would recomend hiring Mighty vehicles to others who are thinking of travelling around the South Island. Thank you to the Staff at the Christchurch Mighty Campers depot.

We're first time users to provide some context The experience was not a bad one but some suggestions will improve the process 1. Collecting the vehicle took a little longer than anticipated with some duplication of information which is already provided when making the booking 2. The vehicle itself was not bad and behaved well 3. The bed however has a steel support frame which supports your ribs and hips all night long keeping your bed time minimal. I overcame this problem on the 2nd night with a piece of layer board between the frame and the mattress. My suggestion is to roll out this easy fix across all your vehicles at a minimal cost The four stars is with reservation, but we are not wholly dissatisfied

Great value for money. We had the 6berth for a family of 6 (2 adults, two pre teens and two littlies). There were a few bits and pieces that were not working as they should (a draw use to fly open around the corners, bed slat was broken, one charging port didn't work, had to move bed cushions to get fridge open) but I also appreciate that if we wanted top of the line then we should have gone with a more expensive company/camper so this was great. Their app was awesome and the how to videos were super helpful for setting up the beds etc and the maps that showed gas stations, dump stations, low cost camp sites etc were so handy. Staff were friendly and helpful. We did a linen exchange which was easy to arrange. Drop off back at the airport went well. Totally rate this company for value for money.

We booked a Mighty Camper and picked up from Christchurch on 23 December. I was really disappointed in the handover - we were asked to watch the video and that was it. The "handover" was a person taking us to the camper, pointing out the damage previously caused and handing over the keys! We were not shown where things were in the camper or how to operate it. We would have appreciated 5 minutes of someone's time to show us around. Not happy with the customer service - it seems the people just wanted to get us in and out in a hurry. Very tardy!

Rented last year for 4 days and it went pretty well so splashed out this year for 12 days and got mixed feelings. We had 6 berth Marcedes, 2 adults and 2 small kids. While the experience itself is great and it is good feeling to have your own living room, kitchen and bathroom on wheels, I would strongly recommend to thoroughly check the vehicle before driving off from site and if you encounter any trouble during your trip keep pestering the THL callcentre. I guess that Covid is taking toll on ageing fleet so there is a lot of faulty bits needing service. Our car had faulty battery which left us in the middle on nowhere waiting 3 hours for road service to start us up. Unnecessary wait was caused by member of THL staff which forgot to book the AA for us and did so only after calling them 3 times over...It wasnt possible to change battery as apparently they dont readily stock them on WestCoast or available garages had holiday. Not wanting to compromise our timeframe we opted out to keep battery alive with frequent charging on idle. Another lovely feature was faulty fridge which kept freezing our food and heated the kitchen bench so much that I was worried it might cause the fire. Lowest setting and turning it off overnight was must but not the best for food safety. Unlike the van from last year this one was far from mosquito/sandfly proof due to gaps and holes in mesh door and stupid construction of roof windows. We had to plug everything with paper towels and keep it that way for the rest of journey. One set of tires was barely legal while rest almost new, why?! Fresh water tank had faulty breather so once it was about 3/4 full it kept spitting water out so impossible to fill up completely. Top that with ripped seat, missing plastic guards in interior and terribly squeaky door I had to oil myself. All that for over $5000. Refund for our troubles -> $50. I dont think this business will have my money next year...

Fab Way to See Our Backyard My family (My Dad, Youngest son, Niece and I) went from Canterbury to Cape Reinga and back. It was so handy to be able to stop and make a cuppa, cook lunch or a quick toilet break without any facilitities nearby. Only suggestion I would have would be to have the tools to open the battery and jumper cables. As leaving ones lights on for an hour in an isolated place (no cell service etc) was unfortunate. Luckily we were "Saved" by someone that had the tools required. The making of the beds didnt create too much havoc although we did have some arguments over it. :-) I enjoyed driving the Mighty 6 it felt like a small car with a huge back end.... It inspired me to think about the ability to own one myself in the future. I have a small 2 berth camper and a 4 berth Caravan, so its not too far out of my comfort. Thank you for helping us create memories I look forward to another opportunity to take a trip like this again. Anyone thinking of hiring a Mighty 6... Do it its so good to have everything you need. We didnt go off grid often and stayed at some amazing NZ campgrounds but having your "own" space made it alot better. Moana and Whanau

It was our first camper van experience. While researching different companies, Mighty had a very competitive rate on an awesome 2/3 berth Mercedes Sprinter in comparison to other companies with smaller Toyota Hiaces. We booked for 10 days. The van was clean and in great condition. The van was big on the inside and very easy for 2 adults to stay in. After some fault finding we found that the power cable did not work on the first night. We borrowed a spare from the site we stayed at. After contacting customer service a new power cable was arranged for us after our second stop. It was made available sooner but our itinerary was a bit full to collect it. The steering also felt like it was pulling a bit strongly to the left. It was not an issue in towns and winding roads but it was quite noticeable on longer open roads. I was made aware that vans are set up to pull slightly to the left as NZ is a country where we drive on the left hand side of the road and many tourists are accustomed to driving on the right hand side. Customer service were fantastic about this and arranged a wheel alignment to be done at our soonest availability. It made a small difference to the alignment. I would 100% recommend renting a Merc Sprinter from Mighty. The staff are all great and very helpful and the vehicle we had really allowed for us to experience the NZ South Island to the fullest.
