★ ★ ★ ★ ★ My Wilderness experience was once again excellent and I felt really sad handing the keys back to the Christchurch team. After a suddenly curtailed holiday back in March as lockdown sent us all scurrying home, I have looked forward for months to picking up here I left off and have enjoyed 2 weeks of fabulous exploration of the West Coast. As a solo traveller I don't often freedom camp, but use DoC camps that are situated in magical places and my small motorhome as perfectly suited for semi wilderness camping. Thanks Wilderness for helping create wonderful memories.

Picked up my camper in Auckland and on the way into Christchurch an oil lamp came on so I took it into their office and not only did they check the oil levels and found nothing wrong they also did complementary checks and topped up wiper fluid, checked the tire pressure, checked the tire bolt were tightened to make sure there was nothing wrong.

- Good choice of campers
- Airport pick up and procced, on the road with in 45 min. (this was out of Christchurch.
booking on line was well set out and smooth.
- We never needed to change anything with our booking, so not sure how they handle that.
- We had a problem with the operation of the heating (operator error!), so got to use the phone in help. Sorted easily, no issues.
- We took out the premium insurance and needed it, a good choice.

Lovely friendly service from Irene in CHC and Georgia in Auckland
Wilderness and its people are all about 5 star service and they totally live up to it. Even 'Toni' our mobile apartment for 2 weeks was reliable, economical and a dream to drive.
Everything works and after 2959km driving each day was a pleasure.
Some Tips you may find useful
Drain the water storage in the morning to save on diesel used
Pack a Hi Viz vest from a $2 dollar shop for when you are outside the vehicle esp in winter
Sometimes the external storage locker key mechanism get sticky from road dust getting in while driving. Call in at mitre 10 and get a small WD-40 aerosol lubricant about $9 does the trick

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We hired a camper for 2 weeks from Wilderness. Pick up was good, and camper was OK. However on day 2 when we went to use the TV it didn't work, we contacted support and were advised to take the camper to a technician, which we did, taking a couple hours out of our itinerary to do so. Technician advised that TV needed to be replaced. Wilderness didn't want to pay for a new TV so we agreed that we would receive compensation on return of the camper for the inconvenience of not having a working TV for the duration of the 2 weeks. On returning the camper I enquired regarding the compensation and was advised that a manager would be emailing me to discuss. I have yet to receive an email, and have now followed up twice regarding it, with no response to my emails. Suffice to say I would not recommend Wilderness and will not be using them again myself for the 2 camper trips I am currently planning.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We bought a 2017 Carado T348 from Wilderness Motorhome Sales (ex-rental) in late 2020. After travelling around New Zealand in our motorhome for over 12 months, we are still happy with our decision and love our little home on wheels. There were some mechanical issues that have been covered under the ‘rest easy’ warranty, much to our relief. The pre-sales process was friendly, informative and easy. Lisa and the rest of the after sales team has always been friendly and eager to help. Thanks Wilderness team!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Absolutely nice ! We hired the Suite from Christchurch office. Starting from booking, handover, quality of motorhome (ride, layout and comfort) - everything was great. Very warm staff (thanks Georgia). Will certainly recommend and go with them again. No issues whatsoever-Thanks everyone!
