Convenient location for CBD, customer service was responsive and accommodating during our rental which coincided with the Level IV COVID Lockdown and disrupted our rental car plans. Rented Toyota Rav4- good quality and no issues with vehicle. Would recommend for any future travel needs.

Mode is an excellent option for leasing a vehicle for ride sharing. I have leased a number of cars and have found Sahil and the team excellent to deal with. Great company and service.

The most chill car rental experience ever. Got in at 810 got out by 820. Cost $55 NZD for the 24 hour rental and the car worked as expected. They offer lower rates than the rest because they also own a mechanic shop on site so they fix and maintain the cars themselves.

My Rav4 rental was great value for the price I paid! I am happy with the service while picking up my rental in Auckland City and dropping off 33 days later at the Airport address. The airport shuttel bus was efficient.

Vehicle was good a Toyota Corolla but customer service was lacking big time. We were two females and had to drag our bags up the steps of the shuttle bus (no offer of the boot or help with bags). On return of the car no help again with bags and had to drag them over stones (loose) to the shuttle bus and yes they had the boot open but once again no help with getting bags into the boot. Communication was not easy either. They are cheaper but you get what you pay for.

A very unpleasant experience with Mode Rentals and an unethical approach to customer service and safety. Our encounter was at the Queenstown Branch however we dealt with various staff members throughout the company, including staff at the Christchurch and Auckland branches, due to the fact that Queenstown staff were unable to answer our questions. I note Mode Rentals' reply to my reviews on their Google Profiles tries to emphasise the fact that this encounter was with the Queenstown Branch only. I have left reviews on all of their Google Profiles because, as mentioned, we dealt with employees throughout their company nationwide, including the CEO, Philip McIntyre, and so that they cannot avoid accountability. One of the tyres on the car we had booked looked unsafe in our opinion. The tread on the front left tyre was almost non-existent and I am genuinely surprised that the vehicle passed its WOF. We raised our concerns with the staff on duty at the time, but they were unhelpful and were unable and unwilling to address our questions. We weren't getting any answers from the staff at Mode Rentals so we cancelled our booking and went to another rental company (I would add that it was an effort to even get them to drop us off at Go Rentals a couple of minutes down the road). Over the next 10 days we struggled to communicate with Mode Rentals. We called them numerous times but were fobbed off to various unhelpful employees, all of whom seemed clueless and avoided our questions or simply were not able to answer them. We had to repeat our story every time we spoke to someone new - not sure what is going on with Mode Rentals' systems (or lack thereof), but the whole operation seemed a bit unprofessional. After days of going around in circles, we directly emailed the CEO, Philip McIntyre. Mr McIntyre accused us of exaggerating and informed us that because the tyre met the minimum safety threshold to acquire a WOF he would not refund our money. We told him we were not exaggerating - to us, the tyre looked dodgy and the staff could not answer our questions so we want elsewhere. From our perspective Mode Rentals should at agree to compromise and at least grant us a partial refund on the basis of their company's unsatisfactory customer service. If his staff had been able to address our concerns during the vehicle inspection, we may have taken the car. Because they could not do this we went elsewhere. Mode Rentals does not seem able to understand this logic, and will take no responsibility. For their terrible customer service, they only offer their "sincere apologies" but have pocketed all our money. We questioned Mr McIntyre on his ethical standards (or once again, lack thereof) and the fact that his staff were so incompetent they could not address questions in regards to vehicle safety. It is concerning that his staff do not seem to have any knowledge about what I would consider to be fundamental issues concerning safety and the state of Mode Rentals' vehicles. I shouldn't be so surprised though, as during the drive to their premises from the airport, his staff were complaining about low wages. It seems Mode Rentals is obviously big on cutting costs at any expense. Save yourself the hassle and choose another rental company that offers better customer service and higher safety standards. I personally would never use this company again and certainly would not recommend them. Go Rentals were much more professional, helpful, and happy to accommodate us last-minute.

If you are keen on driving vehicles that don't meet New Zealand safety standards then this is the company for you. We recently booked a car with Mode Rentals and the left front tyre was bald. When we voiced our concerns with one of the staff members... they walked away. I thought they were going to ask someone out back... but after waiting for 10 minutes, they never returned. We had asked for another car or if they could replace the tyre, but unfortunately no go. Ended up booking with Go Rentals down the road who were super professional and helpful!! For the past 20 days we have been trying to get our money back. I held of leaving this review in the hope Phillip the company director would have a little integrity... instead he seems to avoid any form of contact. Yes I got a few emails back, but that is it. Was told he would call... which he did, unfortunately I missed the call. I've asked him to call me back a few times now during business hours rather than 6pm on Friday night. Still no response. If you want my advice spend a few more dollars on decent car rental company. Phillip is a crook.

Amazing rental car company that is very well managed by Vini and Jerry in Auckland. The best car rental company I have used. I greatly appreciate their attention to details, clean condition of the car and flexibility.
