About Paradise Valley Springs

OUR PARK TODAY

The park is set in a very natural and well-maintained New Zealand bush environment. We are fortunate to have a freshwater spring onsite that supplies the park with all of our water needs, along with an on display water bottling plant. The Ngongotaha Stream winds throughout our park, home to many wild trout.

All of the wildlife on display is found either wild (both native and introduced) or farmed around New Zealand - with the exception of our African lion pride and for this reason the lions are housed and displayed in a slightly separate area of the park.

We encourage hands on or close contact with many of our animals and hope to foster an appreciation and love for wildlife through connecting with animals, while also educating visitors about the challenges a lot of our native species are facing on a day to day basis. Since our first lion cub was born back in 1986 we have also offered the chance for visitors to interact with cubs when we have them.

It was worth to visit. Especially for family with kids, they will love this place. All the native birds, different kind of trout, and animals are very interesting. Feeding them is always fun for kids. Walking through the tracks it would take more than 1 hour since you have to stop every little time. Lion feeding was quite tense, and please check the time before you visit if you would like to watch it =) Thanks for the nice time!

If you enjoy being up and close with animals then this is the perfect place for you. To name a few, we saw: Lions and their two 8month old cubs, Huge Goats, Spotted Deer, Lamas and many varieties of birds and trout. We were able to feed all the animals except the lions (ofcourse) but the wildlife park does lion feeding at 2.30 everyday which is a thrill to watch. We were 2 adults and an infant and paid $73 in total including animal feed, prices to this attraction were worth it!! If you're doing a trip to Rotorua, I highly recommend checking this awesome place out

Loved it! So much trout and heaps of different animals to see. Helps burn the kids energy too my boys are both ready to sleep. Second time we've come it was 75$ for two adults and some animal foods. Under 5s are free so great value if you've got young children if not great for all ages

A great way to spend the day with friends or family. The Lions are fed at 2.30pm daily where you can get close enough to take some really good pictures. The enclosures have many different animals and birds as well as trout and eels if you’re lucky enough to see them in the waters. Most of the tracks are shaded by the native trees as you walk around the park. Don’t forget to purchase the cups of pellets found at reception, because you can use these to feed all the animals except where the signs say otherwise. Wonderful experience and souvenirs to purchase before you leave. We will definitely come again ❤️

Excellent a bit expensive but well worth it. We are from Wellington and we found this to be so much better than our Wellington zoo. You can get up so close to the animals and can feed most of them. We went for the lion feeding, that was great. The walk around was easy and well sign written and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We bought a toy lion for our baby to remember our trip there from the gift shop which was a great price. Also food to feed the animals was a reasonable price. Highly reccomend and we will definitely be back.

Paradise Valley Springs was the highlight of our visit to Rotorua. The kids loved seeing and feeding all the cute animals (even the trout). They even got to pet some of them, much to their delight. Then we got to the Lion Feeding, which was brilliant. The keeper was informative and interesting and the whole crowd was enthralled. It was a great experience and I can't recommend it enough.
