★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Amazing weekend with family despite the weather. Glen and Carolyn were great hosts. Carolyn and Sam your cooking skills were 100%. Every meal felt like a feast. Glen and Hadley... you are so patient especially when it came to the clay shooting which was a first for several of us. We enjoyed the walks, side by side tour and soak in the hot tub. Seeing the petrol head of the group exchanging motorbike for a horse was entertaining too! The highlight of the weekend was spending family time in such a special place with special people. We will be back.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had the best holiday at the Retaruke Country Estate! The accommodation and scenery are simply stunning, and Carolyn and Glenn were fantastic, hospitable hosts. The food was top restaurant quality, and the available activities were memorable. This experience reminded me of just how beautiful New Zealand is. Our photos do not do justice to our outstanding experience. My husband and I definitely intend on going back. We can't recommend this experience enough, especially if you need to unplug from the stresses of city life.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a wonderful 3 days at the farm with our two grandchildren aged 11 and 13. Fabulous cuisine and enjoyable company. As city dwellers we all appreciated the opportunities to ride horses, drive off road vehicles, witness sheep shearing etc. Carolyn and Glenn really know their stuff. Highly recommended.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We absolutely loved our stay at Retaruke. We stayed as a family of 3 with our 6yo daughter. Had just the right mix of relaxation and activity. Loved the variety of things to do and the individualised approach. Food was delicious and meals adapted to be child-friendly for miss 6 (without compromising on flavour for adults). Glenn and Carolyn were amazing hosts, always there when we needed them but giving us space when we wanted it. Bed was super comfy and we all had great sleeps there. Just what we needed and can’t wait to come back!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Had a lovely four day weekend at the lodge with hubby and two kids (8,11).
What a fantastic place! Beautiful views and scenery. We could watch the deer from the comfort of the sitting room.
From the hunting with the kids, to shooting practice, horse riding and time out on the buggy everyone had a great time.
Glenn was patient and brillant at ensuring the kids had a safe but exciting time out on the hunt. Although unsuccessful this time, everyone is keen to come back for a repeat!
The lodge was spotless and very comfortable. It was great to have exclusive use. Carolyn kept us well fed with meals which she individually catered to the kids. I was surprised at the attention to detail and how she picked up on things the kids liked without needing to ask.
I loved the horse riding through the bush, magical way to see the countryside.
One of the best weekends away we’ve had and defiantly worth it. Lovely to get away from it all. Couldn’t have asked for better hosts.
Carolyn and Glenn we look forward to sharing your little slice of paradise with you again!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had a great time in this beautiful part of New Zealand. The food was amazing and Carolyn catered to our allergies without a fuss. The activities were fun and there was something to do for the whole family. The deer hunting was exciting and Glenn's expertise allowed us to visit some of the deer hotspots and get some meat for the freezer. The lodge itself was amazing and the surrounding native bush was spectacular. We would highly recommend a stay at the stunning Retaruke lodge.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We had the most amazing 3 night stay at Retaruke Country Estate recently and I cannot recommend the place highly enough. Carolyn and Glenn were wonderful hosts, catering to our large group. Carolyn prepared exquisite meals for us and Glenn was a wealth of knowledge teaching us clay and target shooting and some of the group went hunting. Nothing was too much trouble for them and we were so well looked after during our stay. The estate itself is incredible and you can watch wild deer walking past either from the lodge window or from the outdoor spa pool. The rooms are beautifully furnished and the grounds are immaculate. A big thank you to Carolyn and Glenn for everything and we can't wait to return again soon.
