Scotties Rentals Christchurch - Airport

The car rental was great, very tidy, staff very helpful, however, there was no mention or information sent through for the excess amount if anything was to happen. It was very quick and easy to book but I think they cut short the fact that client needs to know these details before they turn up to collect the car.

Amazing experience with Scotties Rental car when I visited Christchurch beginning of this month :) The manager Jason went out his way to help us on his day off! Great service indeed! No doubt to return to this company when I get a chance to visit Christchurch again!! Thanks team!!

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT BOOK WITH SCOTTIES. If I could give zero stars, I would. While booking online, be warned, “Economy” serves as an umbrella company to many smaller companies in New Zealand. If you are unfortunate enough to have your reservation served by Scotties, be prepared for a terrible experience. In my case, after a flight arrival time change from 1000 to 1400, I called Scotties for a pickup (the only way to get picked up as they are not in the terminal and do not run a constant shuttle). After 2 calls and a 40 minute wait, the shuttle arrived and I was informed by the driver that my booking had been canceled (allegedly NZ law requires a company to only hold a reservation for 2 hours. This is debatable, as other companies hold your car for 24 hrs.), they had no additional cars available, they were sorry but they could not help me. There was no communication from the company that my reservation had been canceled despite them having access to my email, phone number, and the two phone calls I’d made upon arrival at the airport requesting to be picked up. Still in need of a car, I went online and booked a vehicle with Economy through Travelocity. My credit card was charged and I received a confirmation email at which point saw the company providing the car the was once again Scotties. I called again, now with a valid reservation in their required 2 hour window, and was told to wait 10-15 minutes, the shuttle was on the way. Again the shuttle arrived (35 minutes after the phone call) and again the shuttle driver refused to take me to their office stating that there had been a miscommunication and they did not have a car for me. I called the company back, (which was now the fourth long distance phone call for that day) they apologized for the inconvenience but offered no assistance or compensation for my time or troubles. I strongly recommend you never rent from Scotties or “Economy” for that matter. Their non-existent customer service is not worth the discounted prices for their vehicles. It’s a wonder a company like this stays in business. It’s quite obvious it’s terribly mismanaged and only makes me wonder the quality of the vehicles they rent to travelers. I most certainly will never book with them again and encourage others to do the same. There are several other options available that I highly recommend you explore. I ended up booking with Firefly, a partner company with Hertz and located in the terminal. Only slightly more expensive then Scotties, the car was ready as soon as I finished paying, the customer service was excellent, and there was no shuttle or long distance phone call required for pickup. —-UPDATE—- I filed a complaint with the company and the attached screenshots detail the only response I received. TRULY SHAMEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE. —-UPDATE 2—- Turns out I was indeed charged for the car I never received. Now I have to dispute this fraudulent charge with my credit card company. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!

Back office made several mistakes. Tried to book a Prius, got an email back saying that Scotties would need to confirm vehicle class availability. Never heard back. Called them 4 days later and they said they had a Corolla available. We wanted a Prius, so went somewhere else. I notified them by email and they got mad-- said they had plenty of Prius. First mistake. Second mistake-- as I said we did not book with them, but they charged my credit card anyway. I emailed them asking them to sort it out and after 3 days with no reply had to ring them to get it sorted.

I traveled to Christchurch for work, along with my 4month old and husband. When we arrived at the airport, I called the number for collection. The girl on the phone was not good at her job if I am honest. She would go silent and when I would ask a question, i would end up repeating myself. I kept reading her my reference number and she told me repeatedly "that's not your reference number".. But its under the reference number title?? After the third time, she admitted that yes it was the reference number (*face palm*) We were collected shortly after from the airport and taken to collect the car we booked online. It was a totally different car, but fit our little family comfortably. We had no trouble with the car and was able to travel from a - b with ease. Leaving Christchurch, we had the most wonderful interaction with the staff member on. She was very friendly and we had a good laugh driving to the airport. Not sure what her name was (German girl) but she needs to know we appreciated the ride and her service (*high five*) All in all, scotties rentals are VERY AFFORDABLE, they provide GREAT CARS and provide AWESOME SERVICE.

Thanks so much for looking after me on my 10 day South Island trek Scotties. The car was very good. Even the radio was all tuned in. Your staff were helpful and easy to deal with. Support was just a call away when a little issue came up. Staff I dealt with were brilliant and very kind to me when running late for my flight. e customer to the airport as part of the service.

We had a really good experience with Scotties! We had a rental car for 7 days and everything worked out quiet well. First of all the service was amazing! The staff was more then friendly and also so helpful. The price was great and in the end everything was fair and without any problems. Would absolutely recommend this rental car company! :)

A good car rental company for much cheaper than the other places nearby. The car was in good condition and the staff even have a drop off point right next to the airport with no additional fee included. They did give the car to us with half a tank of gas which was unusual but caused no problems. Definitely would recommend over other car rental companies in Christchurch which were very overpriced and would give you the same car. Thanks Scotties.
