Terrible experience with it’s service, absolute fake advertising, ordered and paid deposit for Toyota Prado, man told me you are so lucky to get upgrade for better car of Ford avenger for no extra when I went to the desk on Christchurch airport. And also access fee $7500 if cause any scratches, dents etc. what’s shocking poor scammers service they provide. Please inquire other car rental beyond airport for half less rental fee and honest service. eurocar charged $130.74 booking for nothing! Should do business in right way.

Booked a Hyundai I30 but was given a Mitsubishi ASX at Perth Airport on the 10/7/2021. This car looked great but was absolutely hopeless to drive, had no get up and go and was powerless on the motorways. Anyhow we used it and dropped it off at the airport on the 21/7/2021 by dropping the key in the dropbox provided as no one was manning the desk. We had used Flybuys to hire this car by using a voucher provided, confirmed with Europcar and Flybuys on the phone prior to leaving Christchurch and on hiring the car at Perth Airport. On returning to Christchurch we were contacted 10 days later to say that they would not honour the Flybuys voucher and they intended to deduct $1700? out of our credit card. I advised them we had flown to Perth as our son had unexpected passed away and that this was very unfair to remove this large amount of money from our credit card. The person was totally uninterested and stated she would call her supervisor and would call us back. We received an email 3 days later advising us they had removed the money and that they had given us a discount. We telephoned them and expressed anger at them removing this money but she advised us we had given them permission- we had not. This company is a disgrace and I would highly recommend to everyone to avoid them. On speaking to other people they have had a similar experience with Europcar giving them poor performing cars, charging for returning cars late, toll charges etc. Avoid hiring from this business as on speaking to our bank regarding the Visa card this is one company that is able to have access to removing funds even if you freeze your account. It is worthwhile going elsewhere and paying a little bit extra to get a quality product/service. Because if you book with Europcar you will be paying more in the end with all the extra charges.

Shocking customer service, the manager Phil* was absolutely rude who yell at customers and doesn't really know how to solve it with civil talk. seems every workers next to the shop knows his temper is pretty bad. Anyway, I won't recommend this rental shop. bcs of the manager is only care for their business not customers money and bond pay back.

Do not use this company! Hired car from chch airport. Car was nice but car seats we hired for our kids were awful and we ended up having to go to a car seat specialist to get them put in as they weren’t suitable for the car…costing us an extra $62 on top of already expensive car seat hire. Car had filthy used mask under the front seat. Customer service over phone is USELESS, the worst people I have ever dealt with! Don’t waste your time with this company!!!

DO NOT RENT with these guys. I was charged $900 for a tiny scratch which could hardly be seen in the photos they sent. Foolishly, I rented from them again several months later, and after picking up the car I saw it had been rear-ended and they hadn't told me about the damage. I rang them and they said they noted the existing damage on their record. When I returned the car, they nonetheless tried to charge me for the existing damage! I would rent with any other car rental company in Christchurch other than Europcar. I will not make the same mistake a third time. If you do have to rent with them, take detailed photos and videos of the whole car beforehand.

Update: my sister emailed them a screenshot of the flight details and checkin time. They asked for more proof. Unbelievable that they screwed things up, overcharged us and have the nerve to make us run rings around them. In person, the workers were lovely. I’ll give them that. The actual company is an absolute crock. So many hidden charges and can’t seem to get anything right. Surcharge of $10 for using a card to pay for upgrades without any warning of it at the time. Absolutely ridiculous in this day and age. Would have been fine if it was that on its own, but then they charged an extra day (over $100) for β€œdropping the key off at about 5pm” - when the person dropping the key had a 1pm flight that day, therefore wasn’t even in the city and had dropped it off before 12:30pm. Couldn’t resolve over the phone and they said that the booking person needed to lodge a dispute - for THEIR MISTAKE. Useless. Don’t book a car with them or the sub-company Keddy.

Dreadful customer service, nobody to meet at the airport for pick up which caused delays. Extra Administration charges made and when disputed nobody returns calls or is available and the calls get cut off! First and Last time using these guys and highly recommend others read and re-read the small print too or just go elsewhere!

After spending $3500 over 2 months with Europcar they have decided to falsely charge me another $200, I have attempted to resolve directly with multiple calls and email but to no avail. I have lodged complaint with commerce commission and have requested a hearing with the disputes tribunal, I will update accordingly. Everyone from the top down has been awful to communicate with, with the absolute exception of the poor receptionist who was great, unfortunately I have the feeling she has to deal with a lot outside of her control as she was experiencing complaints while I picked up and dropped off vehicle.
