★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Spent two days here in our motorhome - loads of facilities, toilets, showers, cassette dumping etc. Kept spotlessly clean. Had a great cycle ride right around the big lake (soft sand in a couple of places), took around 1 hour. Beautiful and quiet.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Camped here for two nights over labour weekend. Incredibly well maintained campsite. Absolutely beautiful lake. Good basic facilities too, the toilets never stunk. Highly recommended, love that it's kept so clean.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Went there for a weekend and stayed at the campground which is right behind the domain. Located right next to Taharoa lake, it has a beautiful view, changing rooms, an open shower outside the changing rooms, and public toilets. It has a playground too. There are no shops or restaurants there, and closes town is dargaville so make sure you bring snacks and drinks. There is a 2.5 to 3 hour walk around the lake which starts at the domain.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Always beautiful. Great walk around the lake, lots of camping space (paid- cheap), and good views from the lookout.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Perfect day trip. Lovely fresh water swim and easy 2km hike around the lake amongst indeginous Manuka, Kanuka and Ponga ferns. Protected from the wind. Very relaxing and peaceful with no one else around on a week day.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Beautiful place, a visit is a must! It is a bit windy which can be annoying. Be prepared to see your tent flying unless you got really good ways to keep it stuck to the ground!! :)

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Not a good place to stay. Dirty and expensive for no facilities. $15each+$10 Power and $2 Shower each. No Nzmca member discount. The photos tell it all. Was very disappointed. Lovely lake but camping not so good.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ we had a great stay at the camp ground. had trouble booking online, phoned up very helpful lady took our booking, paid on line job done. we were 2 family's of 4, kids 11 and 9, they wandered and cycled around during the day on their own. they loved the play ground and the pontoon on the lake. they were not allowed to swim without supervision. the lake was lovely the drop off is to be watched with little kids, the wind was a bit cold when it of the water and we saw a few umbrellas blown down the "beach". We took our mountain bikes to ride the big lake trail 8km, this is a good trail, suitable for kid and not so experienced riders. the small lake trail 4km is not, which was a bit disappointing after the fab morning ride we had.. The ride over the hill to the other lake is steeper but the lesser experienced riders in our group managed it. i was very impressed with the evening security team, they were friendly and the camp was quiet around 10.30 which was great. the toilet block was adequate and highly patronized, it could have done with 2 cleans a day not one, my personal opinion. the lack of potable water is something they could improve.. one of the kids did say it was good we took the bikes other wise it could have been boring. good value for money, recommended as a destination to camp.
