★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great location to stay at. We were in the lavender room in the Rata lodge, the room had plenty of room and was very clean. The shared kitchen was well equipped and fairly big. The staff were very nice, and recommended us to walk down to the beach for the sunset, great advice! Definitely get down there if you can on your trip! Only a 10min walk from the lodge.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Highly recommend this tranquil place. Lovely quiet bush surrounds the accommodation — a large wooden house with open plan shared kitchen, lounge & bathrooms. James & Tammi were the perfect, friendly hosts who went above & beyond. Wouldn’t hesitate to go there again!!

Please consider bedside reading lamps though and hemmed curtains. Loved the wise owl theme in the common room.
And the bonjour personal welcome.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Been around nz lots of times over the past 10 years, but this place is something very special! Tucked away in native forest, it has its own little walkway meeting the Truman track half way to Truman beach (500m). Dorm, private batch, lodge... you name it. All there, each of them hidden and connected with small walkways. Absolutely beautiful!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Great stay at Te Nikau Retreat. Accommodation has something for everyone.....from star gazing huts to massive multistory accommodation. Our 2 room whare was cute, a bit of a squish for 6 adults, be better for a family, but was very comfortable and well appointed. Cooked a vegan Pad Thai with the kit in the in house kitchen....so was pretty good. Walking track to the beach was amazing....Will definitely be returning... only down side was access to bottom car park was a bit tight and slippery on new gravel....but got up and down a few times...??
