Downside showers are very average and sites (our site was small and packed in even though many empty sites) powered site for 4 adults i found pretty expensive but with acess to the amazing beach location is what you pay for

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Fantastic site, magic location. We had a beachside powered site with its own walkway to the beach. Facilities are OK, but honestly the location just makes this magic. Punakaiki is an amazing little subtropical paradise on the west coast. We think this is a must stay for 2 nights at least.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We stayed in the Cliffscapes holiday house and we’re so impressed by the quality of everything. Large, well fitted kitchen, comfy lounge for watching a film, big bathrooms and laundry and had an excellent nights sleep in the bedrooms. A beautiful spot to spend time with family and friends.

Dont camp near beach as very noisy.
Kitchen facilities OK but a bit run down. BBQ was filthy.
Toilet, showers adequate but whole place looks a bit lack lustre.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ I stayed with 13 others in my group on the campsite and it was an absolute dream - close walk to the beach, kayaking on the river, and the facilities were fine. Another reviewer has said there wasn’t enough shower/toilet stalls but if you’re smart about when you shower you won’t have to queue up at all. The people who run it are lovely and super helpful, and we’ll definitely be coming back.
