★ ★ ★ ★ ★ We went for a meal after arriving in Whakatane in the evening and ordered about 7.45. The place was busyish but not crowded. We waited and waited. After about 40 minutes we enquired after our meals. The waiter went to the kitchen but didn't return to update us. The next time we saw him was taking meals to a couple who arrived after us. I stopped him on the way back. He said that we should have been told that there was an hour wait when ordering. He said we could have our money back and go elsewhere. Like we could get anything other than takeaways at that time of night. The meals when they finally came were average. Very disappointed with attitude and lack of service. I recommend trying the Irish bar or Cob and co across the road for meals.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Service was great, however one meal was under cooked and chap in charge offerred desert on him as compensation. We greatly appreciated offer & accepted. We got home & checked bill & guess what. He was not true to his word & the costs of the deserts were included in the bill we psid. Wont go back there again.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Came here with my family for my dads birthday and as a last night out in NZ before heading back to Australia and it was the worst experience of my life. It was an hours wait for our meals to come out, the mains were the size of entrees and not as they were explained on the menus (lacking ingredients) and the service was unsatisfactory. When we explained the situation to the manager, he argued back denying what had happened, trying to put the blame on us for not coming up to the counter to ensure then of everytime something wasn’t up to standard. I would never go back or recommend it to anyone else, absolutely disgusting.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Partner and I went for mothers day lunch, was quite packed when we arrived so understandably there was a half an hour wait, which turned into one hour, ordered a bottle of water and one Spicy Prawn Cocktail for starter, then Surf & Turf and Scotch Fillet Steak for main, starter was nice. Our Steaks were cooked medium rare to perfection but sadly, prawns were only seared on one side and close to raw on the other, oysters were tiny and transparent & chips were cold. What a tough job for one chef to cook for a nearly packed house so we still thanked him & staff were friendly too, But for a total of $85.00 I thought it was expensive.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Such a great place to go. We really enjoyed top service the two girls on the bar did a great job and have done their boss proud. The food was top I can personally recommend the fish n chips fresh and a big size. Great live music on Thursdays. Thanks heaps for the great experience.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Kind of an odd experience - not sure if it’s because of covid restrictions or whether we picked the wrong venue for dinner - apart from security checking our VP no-one acknowledged us or directed us where to sit for our dinner - it wasn’t bad just weird!
