★ ★ ★ ★ ★ If you are hungry for prawns, this is definitely the place to come to. Their crumbed prawns and their dumplings are delicious. Prawns aside lol, they also have a wide range of sushi, donburri and steamed buns (pork and chicken) to choose from. The place is clean and tidy and overall a great place for lunch. I recommend you go early so that you beat the lunch rush. Awesome Niko Niko Sushi!!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Pretty good sushi in downtown Whakatane for reasonable prices. You can pick from pre-made selection of sushi, rolls and other deep fried treats or made-to-order stuff from the menu which includes rolls, hot food & noodles. The rolls go for $11-14 and are pretty sizeable - one would feed all but the hungriest pair of people. There are takeaway trays for Wasabi, ginger & tiny bottles of soy sauce if you're getting food to eat at home. Sushi/sashimi purists may turn their noses up as the rolls, etc aren't traditional and have their own local flavor.
