★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Takes a bit of extra time, but go! So worth it. The road is gravel and cross a few few fords (river crossings) so take a 4x4.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Road turns to gravel not far past the bridge but is still an easy driving road. The road is a dead end, has a few streams crossings, lots of cows, sheep and horses line it, as well as Lake Diamond and you past the Paradise sign and mansion. The Paradise Trust accomodation is beautiful and peaceful. Great place for children to experience nature and farm animals up close.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ The Road to Paradise Reese Valley is one of those Heartland Journeys of New Zealand but this road to paradise is paved with gravel and potholes.. but it takes you to an amazing place sometimes referred to as the Wizards Vail as well as trampers special place of choice.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Drive as far as the Dart River (below pic) after the Paradise sign, not much else beyond unless you want to call on the China man's Bluff. The cows looked restless - do not moo.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Would recommend at least a SUV if you wish to proceed deep enough. We crossed at least 3 small streams and stopped at the last big mud pool. At one of the small junction, turn left would get you to the riverbank and the other leads to god knows where.
Ps, just before you enter the paradise road and after crossing a bridge, pull over to the left to the river bank, there is a sea of flower with snow mountain as background. Can’t think of a better place to match as paradise.

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ One of the most amazing places I've visited in our beautiful country. Far, far away from all the human habitats, long way from Glenorchy on a rugged unsealed road, this place is well beyond 'amazing'!! So remote, peaceful and nature's enigma at best! You actually need a 4x4 wheeler (after Diamond lakes) to cross crate size pot holes, hugely uneven terrains and shallow creeks (see my photos) if you dare to reach the end destination :) Words cannot express this amazing place!! So pristine and lonely!! I was so gobsmacked by the serenity of this landscape that I almost forgot to start my return journey :) On a late autumn evening, I was the only traveller here, locked amidst beautiful snow capped mountains, slow sun set, cool breeze, dusk setting in..........sublime!!
